This weekend was also my first 2015 trip to Busch. Went Friday night about an hour before the park closed (after the rain had gone away) and was able to ride Apollo's twice and Tempesto 5 times all within about 45 minutes. Glad I got it out of my system cause I don't think I would ever wait more than 20-30 minutes to ride. Great ride if you get to stay on 3 times in a row! Definitely made up for it being a < 1 minute ride...

I enjoyed Tempesto.  I wasn't expecting another I-305, so I got on with reasonable expectations.  I waited out the morning delayed opening Saturday and got on the first train of the day.  I waited out another breakdown in the evening for my third ride of the day.

Here's one of many photos I took Saturday of Tempesto.

Like Berserker. They're very similar in photogenicality(I don't think that's a word, but I don't care). And ride experience.

From the internets...
Tempesto Interrupted | New coaster at Busch Gardens

Being invited to be one of the first to ride Tempesto is, one supposes, an honor. But this privilege also faintly resembles being asked to a cocktail party given by the Spanish Inquisition.

We exaggerate, but, then, to be honest about it: Who really needs a headache when we can get one at plenty of other places - and with no shaken parts?
And, trust us, Tempesto will shake you.

The newest roller coaster at Busch Gardens in Williamsburg is just a few weeks old but still zips its riders at speeds up to 63 mph on a track that twists its cars upside down.

It's a daring date night endeavor, as well as a challenge to coaster fans of all ages - even a veteran journalist like myself.
And though I'm far from a roller coaster virgin - I defied the dread of decapitation on the maiden voyage of Disney World's Splash Mountain ride - the lure of Tempesto didn't pull me into its launch coaster seats.

I'm OK, kinda, with taking a dive, but a dive and an inversion at the same time? Let's think this over.
Larry Giles, the vice president of engineering for Busch Gardens, assured me that the riders don't really go 360 degrees over the loop of sanity twice, even though it looks that way. He says there are seven rotations, or inversions. Call them rotations, inversions or upside-downisms, they look pretty pummeling to me.

There are three "launch experiences," which I assume means "blasting off," with a complete inversion (there, he admits it) at 134 feet off the ground. And while 63 mph sounds reasonable by car travel, it's different in a dashing little thrill-ride vessel.
If you do get aboard, the terror won't last too long. Tempesto takes its passengers on a 55-second journey. But if you think that's short, try holding your breath for 55 seconds.

Each train contains 18 seats, which probably means long lines. I'm told to realize how lucky I am to have no line.
Still, I'm not convinced this experience has to happen - especially after hearing a younger man say, "I'll tell you bluntly: It was scary as hell."
Also overheard in the men's restroom right outside the ride: "I'm an older guy, and I asked my doctor earlier this week about going on a roller coaster. He told me he wasn't my nursemaid and I should make up my own mind. I went. Good."

But sometimes the expert source carries the more informed opinion.
Elizabeth Ringas, a ranking officer with the mid-Atlantic region of American Coaster Enthusiasts, said, "Tempesto is a special experience because it's nonstop. No pauses."

From Richmond, she's a self-described "coaster junkie" who is off to Charlotte to ride Fury 325, the world's largest Giga coaster, at Carowinds, even though, as she puts it, "they've had real trouble in the past week. It stalled three times, leaving people in the air for as much as 20 minutes."
She's not helping.

Still, Ringas said Tempesto is a real, valuable addition to the claim that the mid-Atlantic coast is the world capital of roller coasters.
So, as Roy Rogers must have said to Dale Evans, "Ride, honey. Ride." Go with my blessings.
Or not.

I'm waiting for the next Academy Awards for my real thrill. Or, maybe, the new "Avengers" flick.

Mal Vincent is a long-time respected local reviewer (mostly films).  Although he liked Howard the Duck...  I visited to share the article but see Luke had the same idea.  However, he omited one of my favorite parts.  The 13 reasons Mal did not ride Tempesto.  I especially like 2,8, and 11.

13 reasons Mal didn't ride Tempesto

1. I might break it.
2. The Titanic, too, had a grand maiden-voyage celebration - and look how that turned out.
3. I am an individual and will not be intimidated by those who tell me "everyone else is doing it."
4. It is too similar to other stories I've done on ride openings - notably the Loch Ness Monster (in which my greatest fear was losing my shoes somewhere in the woods around Williamsburg) and Pompeii (in which the destruction of ancient Rome took second billing to a splashy water crash).
5. I'm too chicken to do it.
6. "Vertigo" is not just the name of a movie.
7. My limit for going upside down is once a day. Being looped should be selective, not excessive.
8. Having been there in person when it happened, I didn't want to become a bloody reminder of the time Fabio was hit by a bird during a Busch Gardens coaster ride.
9. It's bad on the hair.
10. Seeking a vote from the public, I told the WHRV radio audience that I might ride Tempesto, and slightly more than 50 percent advised me not to do it. I respect their judgment because, after all, they spend most of their time listening to people talk smart.
11. I was not impressed by the exit person who told me to do it, explaining, "It's just like riding in your car." Depends on who's driving! Have you ever been on I-64 between Norfolk and Virginia Beach during rush hour?
12. I was not cowered by the person who told me that "If Joe Flanagan is doing it for WVEC-TV, then you have to do it." Joe is one of my favorite TV personalities, and I am in awe of some of the stuff he does, but when he starts reviewing Mahler and Shakespeare, I'll start riding roller coasters.
13. Last but not least, I've got good sense.
If you go

We dare you to face the fury of Tempesto. I have a few pics from opening day as well but they didn't turn out as nice as these did.

EDIT: Added two more pictures

-Administrators- Can we make a 'Tempesto' thread in the 'Operating attractions' area of the site? I'd like to post my thoughts on the ride but I don't see their usefulness behind 3200 other replies.

Ok, I rode the flat yesterday. One positive and one negative.
Positive, it is forgiving for us "fluffy" people.
Negative, it is lame, boring, and too short. The corkscrew is SLLLLOWW. There is 0 intensity and I have been on kiddy rides with better drops.

Finally got to ride this beast last weekend.

I can't believe I'm saying this but I really like this coaster.

Here me Nicole? COASTER.

I found it really intense and a whole different experience from anything else in the park. Sure it's short but it left a strong impression. For those complaining it is too slow at the top. I feel like that is intentional. Spinning around like it does up there at such a slow speed gives you a very eery but fun feeling of thinking you could fall out without actually fearing for your safety. After going thru that inversion I see what the park put the comfort collars in because from the GP would be freaking out over there not being anything to keep them from falling out even though your legs are locked in.

Anyway I think this is a great addition to the park and take back much what I have said about this COASTER. Still wish it was in a better location and not stepping on AC's toes but I guess we better get used to it being there since it isn't going anywhere, anytime soon.

I have expressed my opinion and supported it with facts.  I feel no need to repeat myself.

In addition, I used proper grammar (something which seems to be lacking in certain pointless, personal attacks).

Plus, the one-word post in question was a joke.

I would say that riding the Flat, more than once, reviewing the drawings and diagrams, and having a vast and diverse experience with rides makes you an authority.
