RE: Who will make the "Multi-Launch Coaster" for 2012

If they do the same thing to the Big Bad Wolf site that they did to the Le Mans site I'd be more than a bit bitter. I don't know if I could step into Oktoberfest ever again without jumping up onto a table and starting a protest. What sets Apollo's Chariot apart from the taller, faster, and newer B&M Hyper Coasters? The location, the trees, the use of the terrain, etc. If they took that away from Apollo, I don't think it'd be rated anywhere near where it is today. If I could only give one piece of advice to the park for as long as I live, it would be to keep as many trees as possible and only alter the terrain when it is absolutely necessary. Williamsburg's terrain is perfect for coasters. From what I've heard there weren't any terrain alterations made when Alpen was installed and only one (the final trench) when Apollo was put in. What has that given us? Two of the best coasters ever created. Busch Gardens, I beg you will all my might to leave the terrain alone and save as many trees as possible. Build the coaster for the land, not the land for the coaster. If we have a repeat of Griffon, there will be some problems between me and the park.

RE: Who will make the "Multi-Launch Coaster" for 2012

this makes no sense then. Could there be a elevated bridge tunnel or could the coaster go behind the swings underground. I would love this but its probly just wishful thinking.

RE: Who will make the "Multi-Launch Coaster" for 2012

They're not going to build anything underneath the swings considering they're redoing that whole site right now with new buildings and a drop tower.

I honestly don't know where a bridge would go. Does anyone have the permits that talk about the bridge? I've only seen the building and the france walkway expansion permits.

I just read the article and I have one thing to say: Who is to blame and where can I find him/her?!

Reidenbach says that the current landscaping of the Big Bad Wolf ride, which includes a ravine, will be flattened

RE: Who will make the "Multi-Launch Coaster" for 2012

Everybody calm down. Theres still too much left unknown at the minute to start freaking out. We do not know what parts are being flattened and how the land exactly will be shaped. This is not BGW speaking but a county worker.

Also I'll be in Williamsburg on Dec. 8th. So I'll drive by BGW and get any pictures of the balloon test if I can and post the pictures here.

EDIT: I found this on BGW's Screamscape page from way back in July:
(7/11/10) Time to shake up the rumor mill… as we’ve been sent a new rumor about BGW’s next coaster project tentatively planned for 2012. According to our source the new coaster could actually come from a German company. I’m going to assume Schwartzkopf is still out of the picture, and they would likely avoid Maurer at this point given the troubles Universal has had with the Rockit coaster. This pretty much narrows things down to Mack and Gerstlauer. While Mack is mostly known for the Mouse coasters, they did make a big splash into the launched coaster market last year with Blue Fire, and their spinning coasters are very cool as well. Plus they have a long standing relationship with the Busch parks.
While Gerstlauer hasn’t been used by the former Busch parks yet, their impressive Eurofighter line of coasters (launched and vertical lift hill varieties) have already proven to be very adaptable to highly themed environments as seen with Dollywood’s Mystery Mine and Hansa Park’s Curse of Novgorod. A highly themed indoor/outdoor ride like this would be a great fit into BGW’s already impressive coaster collection.

Hansa Park's Curse of Novgorod is the coaster everyone should look at. I say this because that ride right now fits nearly everything we know so far about this coaster except for the one vertical lift.
Curse of Novgorod

RE: Who will make the "Multi-Launch Coaster" for 2012

I hope we dont get anything remotely like Curse of Novgorod. All of BGE's coasters are long for the average ride, only excluding Griffon and MUST put out an enormous capacity, that of the likes which are only seen in Orlando. The wolf was an EPIC ride and the only way to create a ride even remotely as long at the wolf's with modern day technology and the double lift becoming practically unheard of on steel nowadays is multiple launch segments. 3 launches= long ride, unless they plan on giving us IJ:ST pt 2, but honesyly I cant see that happening. We are due for a new large attraction anyway....

RE: Who will make the "Multi-Launch Coaster" for 2012

Personally i would like to see a coaster like mystery mine at busch

RE: Who will make the "Multi-Launch Coaster" for 2012

I'm thinking that if we don't get an Intamin, it's going to be a ride similar to Revenge of the Mummy at Universal. Obviously one difference is that ours would spend some time outside, but ROTM has a good length, story telling elements, multiple launch segments and high capacity. It's also a pretty fun ride, I wouldn't be disappointed if we got something similar.

RE: Who will make the "Multi-Launch Coaster" for 2012

The balloon test will tell us a lot. If we can see the balloon clearly from the road then this will be an Intamin hands down

RE: Who will make the "Multi-Launch Coaster" for 2012

I still think this will be a MACK Rides launch coaster very similar to Blue Fire. They have dark ride experience (which seems like it may come in handy on this coaster) and they are a German company (see the Screamscape rumor from a few months ago).

Thanks for the article, but yeah i agree they need to let it follow the terrain but also let it go through a couple buildings.

RE: Who will make the "Multi-Launch Coaster" for 2012

This is pure speculation but I think I have an idea what the BBW homage will be- this ride goes through some type of village or town scene.

RE: Who will make the "Multi-Launch Coaster" for 2012

Don't forget a dive over the Rhine. I mean every BGW coaster does that, except for Grover's Coaster.

RE: Who will make the "Multi-Launch Coaster" for 2012

it's not so much the drop that crosses..... it's more of the immelmann that's directly over the rhine. Sorry, that loop happens to be my favourite. :p

RE: Who will make the "Multi-Launch Coaster" for 2012

Yea just checked one of my pictures. It looks like the immelmann starts taking you up and over the river. regardless my point about river interaction stands :p

RE: Who will make the "Multi-Launch Coaster" for 2012

Alrighty then, I didn't know the Rhine ran under the Griffon.

(I'm usually nowhere near the Griffon when I'm at BGW anyway... :dodgy:)
