RE: Who will make the "Multi-Launch Coaster" for 2012

I was asking myself the same thing when they first announced what would become Griffon. As we all know today, Griffon is basically the same thing as Sheikra. I feel like the same thing is probably going to happen: 'project 2012' is going to be basically the same thing as 'project 2011' (Cheetaka?). Then again, Busch was recently bought by Blackstone, so this may not be their style, and I could be completely wrong.

RE: Who will make the "Multi-Launch Coaster" for 2012

It's most likely an Intamin, which I am fine with. Has there ever been a Multi-Launch Roller Coaster, I looked it up and I couldn't find anything.

RE: Who will make the "Multi-Launch Coaster" for 2012

backlot stunt coaster and volcano at KD. just to name a few. these have two different philosiphies. the first stops then starts again, the second just adds speed with the second launch.

RE: Who will make the "Multi-Launch Coaster" for 2012

Id say the drop tower is going to be made by S@S and the new coaster might be BM, They migh even have a few design things that the BBW had.

RE: Who will make the "Multi-Launch Coaster" for 2012

Also confirmed, the station and maintainence areas will be reused, they dont know about the footers yet. And from a response to a question given to John Reilly, the coaster will most likely not have a low hight limit. This means any coaster with four abreast trains (b&m) will be unlikely. Also, the launch will be magnetic (lim or lsm) so a coaster like Hulk would be out of the question.

RE: Who will make the "Multi-Launch Coaster" for 2012

Just wondering from the announcement, how many "firsts" could this multi-launcher have? Seems to me like we are pretty much getting a European-themed Cheetaka headed our way, with some slight differences. If it is suitable to follow BBW, it can't be that tall or fast (someone said that they think it will be a B&M and the fastest launch coaster in the world, I believe. If that's the case, I think I'll just give up on Busch and B&M altogether). Pretty sure it will also be Intamin, so, not gonna lie, a little disappointment is hitting me right now. :( :-/

(Yes, that deserved two types of sad/disappointed emoticons).

RE: Who will make the "Multi-Launch Coaster" for 2012

I went with Intamin. Not because that's what I want, but that's what makes the most sense to me if Tampa does end up getting an Intamin. I can seriously see the second Maverick launch being home to dark ride elements for a story of the Wolf. I'm thinking it's going to be heavily themed, with a strong story told via enclosed launches. At least, I'm hoping it has a strong story.

RE: Who will make the "Multi-Launch Coaster" for 2012

I'm totally hoping and thinking it is going to be an Intamin, but I might as well thrown out my other idea. What is it was the first launched wooden roller coaster? A terrain hugging launched woodie would be freaking amazing.

I'll agree with you.

This is interesting on that note as well. http://www.bgtguide.com/bgt/cheetaka That to me is a reaffirmation that it will be intamin. Guess I will be making sure I get down there in the spring to check it out

Type in chase. Think about going through a redesigned BBW village.

RE: Who will make the "Multi-Launch Coaster" for 2012

So.. what do you think the coaster might be themed to/ named?

RE: Who will make the "Multi-Launch Coaster" for 2012

I'm with Chris. It's most likely an Intamin since that's who is doing Tampa's coaster. Apollo and Griffon were the same way. Not sure why they suddenly decided to always do BGT before BGW the last two coasters. Guess because they're open all year round. But whatever, I can see a Maverick type coaster running through the BBW canyon. That will be totally cool. I do hope they decide to give us hints like they're doing BGT.

RE: Who will make the "Multi-Launch Coaster" for 2012

heres what i have gathered from the majority of the forums and BGW habits and traditions for our new coaster

1. it will be on the BBW site
2. it will in some way pay tribute to BBW
3. it will be the same type of coaster going into BGT right now
4. will supposedly use the old BBW station
5. will in some way come into contact with the rhine river (tradition)
6. will open in march of 2012
7. construction will most likely start during the off season
8. will be some type of legend based off of german culture (tradition)
9. will not be taller than griffon or AC

RE: Who will make the "Multi-Launch Coaster" for 2012

It definitely won't be taller than Griffon, AC or Alpengeist. It's got to be something that's going to hug the terrain and have a story behind it. I'm thinking a rebuilt village or enclosed dark ride elements (or both) will be present. I think James is hitting the nail on the head with the predictions based on the past. Yes, this is the first Blackstone coaster for Wburg, but management is the same as it always was.
