RE: Replacement Project For Big Bad Wolf

yeah none of it for the most part

RE: Replacement Project For Big Bad Wolf

This may just be something for Howl-O-Scream or Christmas Town, but there are two cables connecting the old BBW station and the smoking area. I doubt it's much, but you usually dont see random cables around the park.

RE: Replacement Project For Big Bad Wolf

I think someone a couple of pages back said that they were for the speakers that are sitting on the footers in the former brake run area.

RE: Replacement Project For Big Bad Wolf

I was in Newport News on Sunday so I figured I would make the 10 minutes up 64 for the evening and stop in the park. Light rain but my main thing was to scope out a lot of what I have read about on here. I noticed the surveyors tri-pod just outside of the BBW train house. A lady who I know what works with park managements indirectly told me that there will be another coaster occupying the terrain of BBW. That is pure rumor from someone that I know. Seems plausible though if you ask me. I for one could not imagine a flyer not swooping down over the water, especially with how big of a hit Manta has been in Seaworld.

There is some of my thoughts for this thread

RE: Replacement Project For Big Bad Wolf

On the new Christmas Town website I noticed something..... missing. The rides in operation do not include the swings and Katipult. Interesting.... hmmm.

RE: Replacement Project For Big Bad Wolf

I don't know. When I checked it out, there was a flashing icon over Der Wirbelwind that kept changing through all of the colors but wouldn't let you click on it. Weird.
Kept mashing the button and finally got it to show the swings.

RE: Replacement Project For Big Bad Wolf

yeah the swings showed up right away for me. but honestly i doubt we should be basing anything off this map just yet. its still too early in the game

RE: Replacement Project For Big Bad Wolf

Awww, never thought they were using an old map from last year... I was all excited. Although, if work is going to get done on the new project- December to March is pretty short time-frame. But to tell you the truth; my favorite ride in the winter was the swings. The ride is quite magical in the cold with all the Christmas Lights sparkling whirling around.

well they didn't start construction on SS until the end of HOS in 2008 and that was a way bigger project than this when it comes to the size of the area. even griffon didn't start going vertical till october. we also don't know if they plan on opening the drop tower when the park opens in march. it could be a april or may opening. so the construction timeline could be anything

RE: Replacement Project For Big Bad Wolf

It sounds like no matter what it is it'll be done in phases. I just can't believe they are just freshening up Octoberfest and building a tower ride. Even if they wait another two years they are bound to put somthing of size back in the old BBW/Drachen Fire area. It's the perfect spot to put a major expansion both in master plan (to draw the crowds through the park) and in available area.

RE: Replacement Project For Big Bad Wolf

The Griffon announcement was made in August, so hopefully we'll be hearing something official about the drop tower soon. I still haven't seen or heard anything about a possible name for the tower. Tampa's project is certainly getting attention though, there are several trademark applications in for their new attraction.

RE: Replacement Project For Big Bad Wolf

I'm really starting to forget about this whole project. I mean SERIOUSLY???? C'mon Busch, we want 2 know what in blazez is goin on with this new attraction. I mean does anybody have any interesting new pics? I just need to be freshened with some posts about this thing... BRING IT ON!!!!! August is almost gone, and i dont want to wait till October like we all did for DK!!!!

RE: Replacement Project For Big Bad Wolf

we arent getting spain yet.... this is supposed to be a stinking drop tower. I've never been on a drop tower so I am kind of excited and I need 2 know more about it FAST!!!

RE: Replacement Project For Big Bad Wolf

I hope it's some kind of combo tower with the space shot and free fall. Those are the only fun towers I've ever ridden.

RE: Replacement Project For Big Bad Wolf

i think everyone just needs to take a deep breath and calm down. the "PRESS RELEASE" will come when it comes. busch gains nothing right now by announcing it. why? because they are concentrated right now with promoting HOS and CT right now. they'll worry about getting the word out on the drop tower when they focus on advertising for the 2011 season. otherwise theres no reason to talk about the tower from their point of view.

RE: Replacement Project For Big Bad Wolf

As far as the drop tower goes, a new type is being built for Cedar Fair parks.

http://www.thecoastercritic.com/2010/08/windseekers-announced-for-cedar-point-kings-island-knotts-canadas-wonderland.html

WindSeeker will be a 301′ tall swing ride that should give some breathtaking views while spinning riders at 30 mph. The ride will end with a 26-story freefall at 64 mph.

Now I know Busch's plan is for the tower to not exceed 260' feet or so, but if they can design it for 301', then Busch's requirements would'nt be an issue.

The views would be unbelievable!!
