RE: Replacement Project For Big Bad Wolf

Hey yall. Did anyone else see those surveyors yesterday at BBW? They were mapping out the old return area and down behind the load house.

I don't expect that structure will last past Christmastown.

RE: Replacement Project For Big Bad Wolf

You do make a good point pandorazboxx. Thought they look similar, they do feel different. It would be nice to have another covered flat ride as well.

Oldtimer, do you have any pictures? There is one a page or two back, but It would be great to have some more!

Ok everybody, this is it. ITS A DROP TOWER!!!!!!!! BG's Facebook page for the new attraction is up, and it totally indicates this is a tower....

The LINK:p:D:p:D: http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=101403063250993

It might indicate it was a drop tower if it was a page actually made by the park.

RE: Replacement Project For Big Bad Wolf

I went on the insider tour yesterday and asked about the drop tower. She acted like she didn't know anything but did say the katapult is being moved for sure. Apparently they are having a problem getting the height wavier approved for the tower though. --This is totally unrelated but she slipped up and said there will definitely be a new land. If anyone is familiar with the map in itlay as u come across the wooden bridge going twoards the battering ram it shows how the park has followed the map and if it was to continue Asia would be the next land. As she said this tho she realized she slipped up and just tried to say it was a rumor but i wasnt buying it.

RE: Replacement Project For Big Bad Wolf

The height waiver was approved June 8th. And there will definitely be no Asia.

An announcement for the tower should be coming soon, though. Maybe by the end of the month.

Look don't shoot the messenger. Im just relaying what i was told. And as far as the height thing she said there are still problems with it. I think asia is a real possibility because of how much detail goes into the park and the reasoning behind everything. But thats just my specualtion.

I forgot to mention in my original post --this is totally unrelated but the park will be offering tours for howl o scream and christimas town preparations and set ups.

RE: Replacement Project For Big Bad Wolf

The problem with Asia is... Its a european themed park:s

I could care less about a drop tower. Personally I think it will be out of place. There really isn't a good place to put unless they are really good about the theming.

One thing I think Germany needs is a train station. They have a German train, why not a station? One could be put at Festhaus Park. There's plenty of room and it's realatively flat.

I have to agree with you with on that one it is quite a hike from the nearest one by griifon but i think when the new land is built a train station will come with.

RE: Replacement Project For Big Bad Wolf

Update! I have located the markers number 1 and number 2! I have thus taken photos of these locations and mapped them out for the forums. My theory now is that the number three is the center hub. The swings will be moved back and the tower will be in the center of the pathway- right smack dab in the middle with a big ol' view walking up the San Marco Bridge.

The x's on the map are where we have either spotted survey equipment on the BBW site, or at least markers. If you note their locations, these points make no sense in relation to the numbered markers. My theory; both surveys are being done independently.

Attached are the new points; #1 and #2 located by the swings and the stand near the swings, a two new survey points I noticed on the BBW site as well. Again, if you are trying to match three points... the BBW site just does not fit with the markers. Numbers 4 and 5 are equidistant apart from number 3 as numbers 1 and 2. Also look at numbers 1 and 2 and their spacing in relation to 4 and 5.. a perfect match. Number 3 must be the bulls-eye!

RE: Replacement Project For Big Bad Wolf

Good eye. I think that katapult and the swings will be removed. I think katapult will go in the tent in italy and swings will be put in stoarge till the new land opens then brought back out.

RE: Replacement Project For Big Bad Wolf

Well, I think the swings may just be moved back to the old spot. The park just spent a good penny refitting the swings with LED lights and they are a big hit during Christmas Town. Hot Cocoa and then ride the swings in the winter air... mmmm.... toasty.

That would mean that whole center area would be open... the gift shop would be closed on that one side obviously. When you stand where the number 3 is and look around; believe it or not, it is more room than you think.

RE: Replacement Project For Big Bad Wolf

Very nice find Nora! You have, again, made me doubt my previous theory.

Putting the drop tower in the middle of Germany does make a lot of sense. It's their new attraction, they want it front and center. This also opens the possibility of a partially inclosed drop tower once again. Moving the swings back sounds predictable as well. I still suspect that Katapult will go into storage.

NOTE: Said groundhog has been there for at least the last two or three years. I look for him every time I go. When The Wolf was still there, I also saw him a few times behind the bumper cars. I think we should name him.

RE: Replacement Project For Big Bad Wolf

The groundhog has a name, it's Gilbert.

RE: Replacement Project For Big Bad Wolf

Hi. I was wondering if we ever cleared up if there was going to be just a new drop tower added or a new roller coaster and a drop tower? Srry I really didn't feel like looking all back through the Forums to find the answer.

RE: Replacement Project For Big Bad Wolf

Nora - I think we must've been standing next to each other this weekend! My mother and I were scoping out the surveyor marks and saw the little furry guy, too! haha We did have a good laugh over the "surveying equipment" over by the BBW station... looked surprisingly like a sprinkler for those new trees. Then we saw the orange tag and went from there. People must have thought we were nuts going from marker to marker all excited, but it's okay, they're not in the circle of knowledge.

As far as the Asia rumor... I agree with whoever said it before me, this is a European park, so Asia makes no sense. Unless they're gunning for western Russia, and Russia extends through Asia, so... Now we're stretching!

Right now it's just going to be the drop tower and expansion/rearrangement of Oktoberfest.
