RE: Replacement Project For Big Bad Wolf

The tweet was from the Tampa park's Twitter account. They have a little project down there too. Don't expect any information about the BGW attraction.

RE: Replacement Project For Big Bad Wolf

You know, having 20+ exclamation marks doesn't make your post anymore informative than one would of.

Big difference between the two twitter accounts. @MyBuschGardens says it is for both of the parks but they really only tweet about Tampa, @BuschGardens_VA is only for the Williamsburg Busch Gardens. I can almost promise you that news of an announcement will come via the @BuschGardens_VA account.

RE: Replacement Project For Big Bad Wolf

From this and this, I gathered that there will be some sort of observation deck built and demolition work will take place on the water fountain on the Wolf side. Also, the construction entrance will be along the pathways.

Sounds like the entire Oktoberfest ride section is gonna be torn up and redone.

RE: Replacement Project For Big Bad Wolf

They could make all of Octoberfest based on the theming of this tower... That would be interesting for awhile, but it would get old. At least we know this thing will be built by 2013!!!

RE: Replacement Project For Big Bad Wolf

Actually, from the "deck with scales" and "water fountain", that doesn't sound at all like the waterfall in BBW's brake run area, it sounds like the age/weight game and water fountain beside the gift shop, implying that they're probably going to open that up to allow for foot traffic directly into the area. I'm still betting on the drop tower going where BBW's station is, using at least part of the existing structure for queue and station. I mean, you have a giant set of queue rails built, why not use them? And for those worried about the terrain being used for just a drop tower, this placement really wouldn't effect if. If anything, it is using the only flat part of the old BBW area! I'd fully expect that if that terrain is to be used for a new coaster in 2012 or beyond, and the long rumored new country was happening, the station wouldn't be in Oktoberfest anyhow, and that particular little part of BBW's area would be planted to block viewing access between the new country and Oktoberfest. So, enjoy the nod to the past by whatever is left of BBW's queue and station, enjoy the new ride, and cherish your memories of a ride that, unfortunately, reached the end of it's usable life span.

RE: Replacement Project For Big Bad Wolf

okay heres whats going on. "deck with scales" and "water fountain" are the BBW que house and the waterfall beside it. they are biting the dust. 2nd the small swings are being moved to where the high striker game is now. the snack bar beside Katapult is going away. Katapult itself is most likely staying in the area but will have a cover over it or will go back indoors like before. the drop tower will go where Katapult is now roughly. the swings will stay where they are now. a new bridge might be also out in between the carosel and attach to the current Katapult area. this would all happen in phases between the end of HOS and the 2011 season. this is because they need those rides opperating during CT because of other rides being closed. most of the construction will occur after CT.

RE: Replacement Project For Big Bad Wolf

I don't know... :s

What is going where the small swings are now? Where in Oktoberfest will Katapult be moving?

You speak of this as though it is truth, not a theory. Do you know these things are fact as your post seems to indicate? You don't need to say anything about how you came by such information, just wondering if you are, in fact, saying that this is what you know to be true.

RE: Replacement Project For Big Bad Wolf

Wow, did you even read the documents being referred to?

They said: "Based on the site layout plans, it appears that there will be some demolition occurring in the area of the “covered deck and scales” and the water fountain; however, this work is not indicated on the demolition plan sheet (C01.202). Please amend as necessary."

Working for a company that does a LOT of design work, I'd be willing to bet that while removing some fencing and landscaping could be accidently left off of a drawing, demolition of a structure the size of BBW's station would not. Not to mention, demo on that much of the landscaping running down to the Rhine river would have gotten some comments from various divisions.

RE: Replacement Project For Big Bad Wolf

i worked for the park for 2 years ending in june of 2009. in the spring of 2009 i was a supervisor for BBW. i then transferred over to roman rapids that May. so with that being said i have many sources in the park and hear my fair share of rumors myself that travel through the park. i will even admit that i was the person who broke the news about BBW removal to BGEscape back in June of 2009 way before anything came up. so you can count on my sources being accurate. now when im talking about the demo of the covered deck im not talking about the station but rather the que house itself which is really just a wood structure with no concrete floor which then would make things messy.

as for the spot where the smalls swings are now-im not sure but remember the current pathways that travel through that area now wont be there this time next year. this whole area is being transformed.

RE: Replacement Project For Big Bad Wolf

That all sounds pretty dang plausible. I gotta say "James" sounds legit, but only time will tell. I'd love to see the Katapult move back indoors.

I can say that what you know isn't entirely accurate in it's rawest form. :(

But welcome to the forum, by the way! :)

yeah i'll admit that sometimes things can get changed while going through the rumor mill but im fairly confident that what i've been told is the basic idea.

and thanks. its nice to be a part of a active BGW forum again

RE: Replacement Project For Big Bad Wolf

I'm thinking that James' thoughts/info makes sense, if Katapult does go back inside, perhaps it will be inside a large themed structure that it shares with the tower. Also, I'm familiar with James from browsing bgescape, anyone can go look for themselves, good source of info, glad to have you joining in on the discussions here.

RE: Replacement Project For Big Bad Wolf

James, I'm sorry if it sounded like I didn't believe you. If I came off that way, it wasn't at all intended. There were just a few loose ends that didn't quite make sense at first. As other have said, welcome. :sleepy:

RE: Replacement Project For Big Bad Wolf

To everyone who posts things as facts:
It's not personal but unless you give your source many things will not be found viable, until other things (such as correct info) indicate it. Until then, feel free to share your info but just remember it will be met with skepticism.

RE: Replacement Project For Big Bad Wolf

And remember, sometimes some things just flat-out cannot be "sourced" for volatile reasons. It all really depends on each person, really. For me personally, I know some things I say are "out there" and lead many people to think I'm full of it. On the flip side, I don't think I've been "wrong" in anything I've said. That being said, I completely expect for everybody take take anything said with a grain of salt. Whether something can be proven or not, it's always just a matter of time before everybody knows if what was said in the past is true or not. :)

That being said, I hear Aerosmith and BB King are coming to BGW next Summer for the concert series. ;)

( just kidding :D)

RE: Replacement Project For Big Bad Wolf

Heh~ and Duran Duran too LovDoc. And since Roger Taylor cannot make it- I'll be the back-up drummer. Ho ho. ;) If only!

But Fur Dozy is right. We all hear rumors and to be honest, unless you have actually seen the drawings for the construction; nothing can be concrete. And speaking of, being that I worked for construction - each project had tons of change orders.. as when you get building; things just pop up causing things or original plans to change.

I am looking forward to seeing how the park rearranges Oktoberfest. If you want a picture of what it looks like before the ball drops- take em' now I suppose.

Still, regardless of the tiny details, we all have a pretty good idea of what the plans are - somewhat. Question is the themeing.

Chris - maybe it will be called the aptly named Oktoberfest "hangover" like you mentioned. I still get a good chuckle out of that one.

RE: Replacement Project For Big Bad Wolf

i think the drop tower's theming will impacted the area as much as dark castle. the tower will be its own deal and everything else just has to be moved around to accommodate it. in a nutshell thats the expansion
