or here's something else rumors has it that they're building a new country and it will have 1 or 2 coasters maybe one coaster would be a newer safer BBW and the other could be a flyer or BBW was below the tracks and they could be making a flyer BBW and it will be a bigger badder wolf. MAYBE?

*g* Yes, we're so excited about that! It's been the talk of the town for a while around the forums. We're speculating that it's Spain, though there are other choices that hold a distant second place.

RE: Replacement Project For Big Bad Wolf

I truely miss Big Bad Wolf it was one of my first coasters. I am going to BGW next week for the first time since 2005. As i was checking some stuff out on the webstite i found that they are making a new ride called Europe in The Air. I believe that this will be a ride similar to Soarin in Epcot in Disney world Orlando. While i am pretty sure this will not be BBW replacement at least there will be something new to look forward to later this spring.

Knowing the great ideas BGW comes up with im sure whatever they make in BBW place will be great. It doesnt matter what kind of coaster they put up as long as it has that BGW touch to it. I think if they do make a woodie they should have one thats not your typical wood coaster. It should be something like El Toro in Six Flags Great Adventure in New Jersey. That would be a good touch i think.

RE: Replacement Project For Big Bad Wolf

Welcome.

If we are going the woodie route again, I'd rather have a GG woodie like The Voyage.

RE: Replacement Project For Big Bad Wolf

just got back from busch gardens and i saw something that looked promising when i rode the train. between festa italia and new france it looked as if they had some construction materials out there just thought i'd point it out. i would have taken a pic but i didnt have a cam

They had some markers out in Festhaus Park last week. I'm thinking it's for the things they need to build for the action sports event and the concerts.

RE: Replacement Project For Big Bad Wolf

these construction materials were where the old dranchen fire area used to be so i hope its for something bigger than the action sports event

Yeah, that's Festhaus Park. The sports event is coming up in May, so they'll start putting the stuff together in the next few weeks. If it was for something else (an attraction), we'd know about it through the JCC planning division already.

RE: Replacement Project For Big Bad Wolf

Had a odd conversation last night with a friend who visited the park. He saw a few BGW maintenance guys walking around with a few people near the old site looking either for something or planning something. I wonder if that was Roller Coaster Reps from B&M or another company doing to preliminary drawings.
Things that make you go... HHHMMM

RE: Replacement Project For Big Bad Wolf

I'd bet that has something to do with the action sports show as well, but who knows? It could be.

RE: Replacement Project For Big Bad Wolf

There may be an announcement made mid/late-season. I've heard that's a possibility.

RE: Replacement Project For Big Bad Wolf

I still feel that the reason the 2010 map has such a large empty area where the BBW Wolf stood is to utilize marketing space.. between the extreme sports, concerts, and a possible "announcement" it makes sense that they would use it this way.

I can picture a big logo of a new ride (coaster?) with a coming in 2011 beside it.. or 2012 if they drag it out.

If not, the poor park map looks dreadfully lopsided with most of the action happening on the right side of the map.

Poor empty left side. Awww. :(

FYI Europe in the Air wont be open until May in case you were planning on seeing it next week. :(

I'm betting we'll hear something this winter and see construction in 2011, heck Blackstone already went through with a fairly pricey upgrade of Corkscrewhill. Given that this is their first year of ownership I'd say that bodes well, very well.

RE: Replacement Project For Big Bad Wolf

Who's responsible for the sports stuff going on? Is that Blackstone? Not that I'm blaming anyone or even saying it's unnecessary to have at least some sort of event thing to serve as an attraction while the bigger stuff is under way, but just curious if this was Blackstone or the previous owners.

RE: Replacement Project For Big Bad Wolf

Well, going back to the footers everyone - here is a point to consider which I hadn't thought about before. I was talking to someone and it came to my attention about the old Drachen Fire. No footers remain from the Drachen.

Here is an area that is even more remote than where the BBW was and all the footers were removed.

Just food for thought on the discussion board. :)

I'd guess it was the previous ownership since they probably needed to have talks with the sports tour to make sure everything could be set up and to get dates together.

RE: Replacement Project For Big Bad Wolf

Regarding the sports event, I have no idea. I am not to much into following extreme games so I doubt I will even make my way over to watch anything. All I can think about is who is going to fall and break something.... which is something I would rather not see.

See, told you. :p

It is possible these days to use old footings to create a newer ride.

My guess is blackstone. Universal is owned by blackstone and they've got a BMX show going on right now on select day at Islands of Adventure in Toon Town.
