Just wondering... How does Verbolten fit with the black forest theme?

@GriffonRox, @Arrow: Beacause Verboten in German means Forbidden. The Black Forest is, indeed, forbidden. Putting in the "l" turns it in a nice play on words that not only echoes the Black Forest theme but also tells the riders about what to expect. "Bolt" for a launch coaster is certainly appropriate.

I understand how the name ties with the theme (sort of) but (as I have said a few times already) making up fake German words in an American park that is trying to be accurate to historic european theming just seems inappropriate to me. I think the name would kinda work in a German park in Germany but not in a park that actually has some educational value to the theming... people are going to think "verbolten" is a real German word.

And I know I'm kinda ranting here but I just REALLY don't want the coaster replacing the Wolf be named "Verbolten" I just think it's a really, really stupid name!

Haha, well first off. I don't accuracy is Busch's first priority. I mean. Alpengeist? Griffon? Lochness Monster? Griffon? Big Bad Wolf? All mystical beasts. And Alpengeist is a made up german name. I'll concede that there was more of an effort put into accurate theming when it was The Old Country, but not so much now.

Guys.....I actually kind of like Verbolten the more I think about it....Sorry ArrowWolf haha

Does anyone think that this ride will be sponsored by anything, like how EITA is "brought to you by Aeir Lingus".

Alpengeist = "Spirit of the Alps" or "Alpine Spirit", it is real German.

And yes the coasters are themed with myths but there are myths that were once believed by the people of those countries. (Like the popular belief or the Loch Ness Monster existing in Scotland or the Ancient Roman God: Apollo, the Big Bad Wolf is named after the antagonist of several fairy tales written by the Brothers Grimm (who were German) also Wolf attacks were quite common in Europe in the 18th and 19th centuries.) I seriously think BGW did their homework in the past and had a very neat little park bringing out the wonders of old time Europe... today, not so much.

Honestly, I'd be more tolerant of the name if it was just "Verboten" instead of "VerboLten".

I will actually become an arsonist and burn the park down....

Too far.

Haha, I feel like you're starting to get me Swift. Obviously not as an arsonist, but as someone who's a little mischievous and not a big fan of rules. :D No disrespect, of course

But no really. I won't commit arson, but I will be SO upset. This goes back to the drawings we saw of the beetle through the wall. If this is sponsored I will do the only thing I can: Complain, write a letter, and keep riding the ride.

A statement of that content is out of line in today's day of age. Stuff like that is taken beyond detrimental by parks, police, etc.

I have contemplated boycotting BGW if they ever did something to devastate my fandom of the park, that would be my most drastic form of resistance. They would have to do something REALLY bad in order for me to do that though.

I'm not about to start a political argument here, but I will say: Oh my gosh. Lighten up. I'm sure the park takes releasing their plans for a new, one-of-a-kind attraction as "beyond detrimental" much more seriously.

@ArrowWolf, yeah, i'm not sure if I could ever boycott Busch Gardens either. I've invested too much time with this park. WORST case scenario for me for me would be a car wrapper like we see at Six Flags.

So have I, I grew up with BGW. That's why I'm so emotionally effected by some of the changes happening. Also, What's a "car wrapper"?

It's hard to find images, but here's one. This is El Toro at Six Flags Great Adventure

Ahh, I see now... yes that would suck greatly but I don't think BGW will ever sink that low.

I wanted to do that when they got rid of Questor and turned it into King Arthur's Challenge.

I also wanted to do it when they trimmed the hell out of Alp in 1998. But I never did and still sometimes ride it!:ashamed:

Haha, I agree with you 110%! Glad to see there's another arsonist out there! :p kiddingkiddingkidding. I loved Corkscrew Hill, but King Arthur's Challenge was a tough time for us all.

And poor Alpie....that midcourse break run is WAY more intense than ever before!

Back to the 2012 project... does anyone have plans/pics for the ride between the station and the "event building"?

I've asked this at least 3 times. I'm guessing there has to be a launch since the ride enters the event building near the top of it, but whether or not this launch takes place at the very start or right before entering the building is my real question.

I also REALLY want to know how fast these launches are

I really don't mind answering questions as long as it's not something that requires a picture.

CarterGee, from what I can see it would appear that the first launch happens right after you're leaving the station and then you're launched again in the building's entry tunnel. I don't have any idea how fast the launches are.

Griffonrox, it's not.
