It has become a rule, anything FL gets, VA gets a better one (except DF).

Yeah, we got the shaft in the early 90's. Tampa got a classic, we got DF.

I third that.

But yes, since the project has probably been worked on for four years already, it might be very close to Manta. I hope so, because I love B&M flyers. We actually brought that up in the coaster tour.

I'm sure the ride is already being manufactured if it's coming in the next couple years, hopefully refinement has taken place from both Tatsu and Manta. I don't think it's unreasonable to expect that if we do get a new flyer it will take the title of tallest from Tatsu (which is 170') along with breaking other records for flyers.

RE: Replacement Project For Big Bad Wolf

You know, Cedar Point has lots of height, but flyer is one thing they DON'T have. Height and speed would be cool. Hopefully we'll know something by early next year.

RE: Replacement Project For Big Bad Wolf

Just throwing this out there, though I don't think it will happen (or is even possible), a hyper-flyer with the drop over the Rhine... (Just dreaming :D )

A launched hyper-flyer that drops over the Rhine and goes through the village on the way back, that's how you take a dream over the top!

Actually, dreaming over the top would be a launched, dueling, giga-flyer that drops over the Rhine into an underwater, glass, tunnel, then back up again right into a cobra-roll then back up beside the drop. After that it goes though a bunch of inversions (you can make this part up yourself) and then though the village while it is on fire, and then into the station.

So, have you put your application in with B&M yet? :D

They have a reputation for building "safe" rides... I don't think my idea would fit into that... (and yes, the village would have to be ON FIRE- like burning)

RE: Replacement Project For Big Bad Wolf

I've heard about the possibility of a flyer too!! Especially with the success they've had with Manta at Sea World (which by the way is AWESOME). I would really love to see something like that. Could you imagine diving down the same embankment at the same grade as BBW head first? Whatever they do I’m sure it will be awesome as well.

RE: Replacement Project For Big Bad Wolf

I know that this wouldn't happen at Busch (at least any time soon), but IMO, the best replacement for BBW, would be something like an S&S Free Fly. It looks like a fun ride, it could be customized to interact with scenery and the terrain, it wouldn't be too scary for young riders, while being fun for everyone else, and it is very unique. Here is one at an actual park: link (you have to scroll). Just though I would throw that out there.

In other news, Screamscape got some new pictures of track at the Ohio B&M factory here.

Yeah, that might be a nice ride to throw in for family fun, not sure if Busch would go to S&S (they may have ill will towards Arrow after the Drachen Fire debacle) and I haven't seen much about this ride, it may need to be around for a few more years to work out any kinks.

I could see it going in as a second coaster, but whatever replaces BBW is going to have to be a big draw and I'm not sure this type would do that on it's own.

This is ture... Also, another problem is that it would have VERY bad capacity.

RE: Replacement Project For Big Bad Wolf

This is very unlikely, but maybe keep the Big Bad Wolf but just completely rebuild the track so it works like new again?

Yeah, I'd say that's highly unlikely. I don't think S&S makes any suspended coasters, but I've heard other people suggesting it could be done by another company. I'm just not sure that you could rebuild BBW. Even if the ride was good it wouldn't live up to the legend and would likely be considered a failure. Busch's best bet is to build a big draw coaster, something that holds a couple records or is extremely unique (or both).

I'd be shocked if what goes in is anything other than the tallest flying coaster in the world. Here's a little stat, Montu is 150' tall, Manta is 140' tall. We know Alpengeist is the tallest inverted coaster (Wicked Twister does not count, I'm talking traditional), I'd imagine we'll be seeing something similar with a flyer in BGW. Perhaps 175' - 185' with 5 inversions (the most B&M has put into a flyer thus far is 4).

It would be totally awesome to see that happen!!

RE: Replacement Project For Big Bad Wolf

This thread has been kind of quiet for a little while now, so I'll bring up another discussion.

Anyone think there is a possibility of a drop tower going into a new section? I've heard a lot of rumors about the possibility of an indoor drop tower. At first I thought that would mean an entirely enclosed ride, but it would more likely be a ride enclosed maybe a quarter or even half way up (perhaps castle tower theming).

While I'm not keen on any type of Intamin going into BGW (yes, I know Pompeii is an Intamin), I'll use Hurakan Condor at Port Aventura as an example of what a tower a BGW could look like. I'm sure it would not be as tall as Condor, but it may employ a similar base structure and even it's unique ride element (it's a stand-up drop tower).

Here's a picture of the base structure:

RE: Replacement Project For Big Bad Wolf

I DO NOT want a drop tower. After riding KD's about a mouth ago, I got off asking myself what the big deal was... There is a big build-up as you go up the tower, but when I got off, I just didn't see what was so big about them. I get more air-time on something like Da Vinci's Cradle. Not to mention, coasters on the sky-line look much better than some ugly tower.

RE: Replacement Project For Big Bad Wolf

I like drops, but I don't see one at BGW. I think it would just take away from the park.
