RE: Radical new hamlet idea.....Atlantis!

Sorry Indy but details are important, and I don't take offense. Actually I think we should discuss your details and see how we can change them to be perfect and ideal instead of throw out a theme and let things get wild :p

Aside from details, since it's been used so much in the chain itself already I say neigh. Greece has been done but not as much as Atlantis and isn't an idea already in use elsewhere in the chain.

RE: Radical new hamlet idea.....Atlantis!

I think they should just make a Russia.

RE: Radical new hamlet idea.....Atlantis!

Why do we have two threads about a pompeii replacement? Shouldn't their just be one that lets people discuss both ideas in one place?

Regardless of more details this theme has already been beaten into the ground and kicked countless times beyond the point of being unique. There are three areas themed to Atlantis in the SWP&E chain already, and they actually fit with the aquatic theme of those Sea World parks. It'd be incredibly tacky at a park like BGW where it's predominantly themed to European culture.

Even though Atlantis has ties to mythology in European history, the sheer fact that the theme itself has been beaten to oblivion around the world leaves me wishing for something else to be added instead.

THIS!!!

Yes. Threads merged.

IndyRacingNut, if/when you put a full concept together, feel free to make a new thread on the concepts board- even though I'm not a fan of the theme, I'd still love to see what someone could come up with.

Let's see: We have a dark ride. We have a simulation ride. We have a log flume. Busch spent a lot of cizzash dousing that thing in custom lights. The building is used for storage and HS. It's extremely popular in summer. The building is iconic.

So here's what I think: The ride isn't going anywhere anytime soon and the building isn't going anywhere in the foreseeable future. Whatever they do replace it with will still probably be a water ride and will have be different enough from DarKastle. Here's the issue though - there isn't a lot of room inside that building for what you guys are talking about. It's much more likely that we see a refurbishment of Pompeii than a removal. So what I'm saying is that Pompeii isn't going anywhere and that a refurbished Pompeii is what we'll see in 5 years - not a removal.

Also. I can hear you guys now about them removing Pompeii. "How dare they! It was an icon! For what, a stupid generic gimmicky ride!? First BBW, now this! That walk was one of the most beautiful in the park and it really made you appreciate the park!"

I really wish ride numbers were leaked, It would give us a better idea of which rides could be in the chopping block.

You can kinda infer yourself. Example: Verbolten: 90 minute wait, EITA: 5 minute wait.

But exact numbers would be great though.

All that is circumstantial, bolt can be 5 minutes and EitA can be 60 depending on the day.

If Festhaus EVER gets removed, I will never come back. That's like Disneyland getting rid of Sleeping Beauty's castle.

Yeah, it's true. I don't see it happening. Worst case scenario is that it goes up in flames in which case they'd rebuild it immediately

Just thought of something, Somebody on an another forum told me the JAWS ride cost Millions to run a day because of the ONE blast of fire at the gas dock. And that this is why it closed.

I have a felling Pompeii has the the most expensive operating cost in the park.

EDIT: The festhaus Will keep getting upgrades until the parks closure which could happen in hundreds of years. IT WILL NEVER BE REMOVED(Or I boycott the park)

I wouldn't doubt that for a second. Plus, when you factor in maintenance costs for it's rather consistent downtime, it has to make quite the dent.

^^^ It used to.....a long time ago. It'd hardly be unrealistic to guess that the line for the bumper cars is probably longer than the line for Pompeii these days.

The Bumper cars has terrible capacity though.

Not really it depends who is operating it. There are so many factors that come into play. Like:
Will they fill up every single car or get a rough estimate then start the ride without filling the ride up?

Will they add more cars if it gets more crowded then they thought it would be, or leave it operating with only 1/2-2/3 of its cars running?

And there are a couple more, so it just depends.

Its capacity still sucks when compared to Pompeii's capacity.

Funny since IMO Pompeii is a gimmick.

Am I the only one here who hopes this ride gets taken down? There is just so much to gain...
