In my opinion, EPP is in worse shape than DK was at closing. And seemingly more expensive to keep going. Yet DK is gone and this still operates. Between loss of quality and the water cannons, we haven't rode this in years. But we certainly rode DK every time we were there.

My husband is cheering your post BGW Family. He has been saying this since he found out that DK was no more. It was his favorite ride at BGW. His exact words are "The only reason to go on EFP was the flash over (firefighters love fire... :/ ) and half the damn time that never works."

I'm not mad that Pompeii is still here, heck I want it to stay but then there is a big part of me that thinks that Pompeii is a waste of space. I think the evidence of it being open on Saturday in those low temps tell me that Pompeii's days are numbered.

People ride Pompeii in the cold all the time.  And I'm not sure why its being open earlier that one might expect is a sign that it is going to be closed?
There is probably a really simple answer to this but then why wasn't Roman Rapids running? Maybe they haven't filled it yet, IDK.

I'm not going to pretend to be in the know, but the big temperature fluctuations and the air filled tubes likely plays into it.

EFP stays open when others arent because it takes less staff to operate. Its what a 3 person operation.

Pompeii remains open when Roman Rapids doesn't just because of its prominence. Many guests never go anywhere near Roman Rapids. Everyone passes Escape from Pompeii.

Out of curiosity - and not to suggest you're wrong, because I'm sure you're not - why then is Le Scoot generally closed on opening weekend? I would argue that it is just as prominent, especially now with InvadR right next door.

I could see Le Scoot being open this weekend. They usually open it a couple days after opening day. I think it has to do with staffing. Nobody really wants to sit at the operating seats throughout the course when it’s 50 degrees out. I sure as hell wouldn’t.

Previously it never was. It is a very recent change to see Le Scoot closed during any of the main season.

I imagine that they opt to close it instead of Pompeii because there are other attractions in the vicinity of Le Scoot—Pompeii is basically the entire visual focus for a sizable park area.

they don't close rides because they don't feel like sitting out in the cold. there are plenty other rides where ride ops are freezing

Not to the extent of Le Scoot. If you’re stationed along the course, you litterally can’t do anything. You could honestly get sick if you’re doing nothing for long periods of time if it’s cold.

I’d like to remind everyone that this is a 2013 thread about a rumor that Escape from Pompeii was going to be removed or rethemed. I suggest people stick to that topic. There is a EFP thread in the Attractions Sub-Forum for discussing the ride in general.

To quote Mark Twain:
"Rumors of my death have been greatly exaggerated."

Seriously. I think at this point we got to see these rumors as nothing else but an exaggeration. At this point I think it's more of a dream that it gets removed than a reality.

RE: Pompeii makeover

Woah. Water cannons are 25¢. That's how they get you. Lots of quarters to get riders wet, then a strategically placed family dryer to rake in the big bucks.

What about water cannons on the bridge to alpengeist? Those poor log riding fools will never see it coming.
Noice. At Universal Studios Orlando, there are shower heads that squirt water out when you go under them on Popeye and Bluto’s Bilge Rat Barges, and they are so well hidden you can only see them from offside. They need to do that here

If rumors regarding Pompeii are true, I'd like to see this car ride akin to Le Mans go on this plot. The opportunity for pedestrian-ride interaction linking Scotland to Italy would be great (Bridges over the ride and whatnot). And make the car ride English themed vs Italian being nearby to England Skyride and Banbury Cross hamlet.

What rumors? Is OP finally correct?
