Kevin referenced the existence of expensive, aging rides on the park's "target list" in the years ahead that could be good opportunities for replacement projects. I would bet very good money that Pompeii is one of the attractions on that "target list"—and probably pretty close to the top too.

if Pompeii do get replaced, I love to see it get replaced by that new water ride mack rides where it basically jaws the ride but on steroids

What rumors? Is OP finally correct?

I believe he is referencing a post I made in the the Pompeii ride section about a month ago that it's days might be numbered. At the time I forgot this thread existed.

Pompeii is 100% to only on the list but near if not at the top of the list. Get your rides in this summer because the odds are probably 50/50 for rides in 2027 and drastically decrease from there as time goes on. In fact I would be shocked if it last past 3 years.

Probably removing Pompeii gives you room to access 2 new rides in that area without the need for the crazy construction required from that planning approval video many months ago for LeMans access. Granted...you could gain that access while still keeping a lot of that building...but who knows at this point.

and if the replacement wasn't water based, I love to see a coaster that can stay true to the Pompeii theming (something like a addition to the theme like a volanco themed coaster (like the old kings dominion ride)

I also don't anticipate a coaster at least at first.

The existing building, alone, isn't enough room to hold the entirety of a conventional dark ride.

@horsesboy Not counting you out, but it's technically a roller coaster with some water features. It can't go completely into the water like a water ride.

The water can also be turned off during cold seasons and run as normal.

An Aqua Trax would probably never happen anytime soon in the US anyways. Would be cool with Pompeii features though.

You guys are credible and I know I'm sorta just shit posting. In a perfect world they would renovate and keep Pompeii around but its clear its time is up. I'm intrigued regardless.

To be clear there is almost no chance any replacement will use and significant amount of water in any form oyher then fire sprinklers if there is an indoor portion.

Can they expand the building back into the woods toward the le mans plot to make space for a dark ride? Still using the top level of existing then down to ground level in new?

No, there's a ton of terrain back there and not that much space before the Skyride anyway.

I'd be SHOCKED to see a traditional, all-indoor dark ride reuse the Pompeii building. I think the costs of such a project would almost certainly exceed just purpose-building a new facility elsewhere.
