I think people here are really overreacting to calling this a "joke" or "farce" of an announcement.

There's an advantage to parks not revealing everything about an attraction right in the initial reveal. That way they can justifiably get multiple earned media hits between now and the debut. (That's on top of the free promotion coaster YouTubers will give the ride with speculation vids.)

Under the strategy that it seems most commenters here are demanding, the park would probably get 3-4 stories tops out of most media outlets: The reveal with all the info and concept art, announcement of an opening date, and the actual opening, plus maybe another story if they release an official POV, which may be combined with the opening date reveal. Holding back details makes perfect sense from their standpoint -- assuming that's the actual plan.

1 - I thought that at one time but I disagree. Giving enough information is a bare minimum. There’s not a single press outlet that can create enough of a story with what’s known. It’s basically name and coaster model with height limit. That’s does little to drum up interest. Height, entrance area concept art, aerial layout, or element listing is necessary.

Additionally what makes it a “joke” or a “farce” is that there’s incorrect information in it. In this model the seats don’t swing; unless there’s something we don’t know and they completely glossed over the reintroduction of a great coaster element.

2 - Commenters aren’t demanding all of that. Would some people like that? Sure. We’re demanding an actual competent announcement that’s more than a tweet with a singlet generic piece of concept are that looks like someone prompted ChatGPT to create.

I think what would make most happy is this:
Ride Name
Ride Height
Ride Length
Entrance concept art
Concept art of a visible spot
Some sort of animation of partial on ride or aerial off ride panning

Hershey has not problems keeping up interest all offseason doing stuff like that. SF has not issues keeping up interest doing stuff like that. KD has no issues with that.

I lament the loss of the days of puzzles like Project Nimatni, Lamar Bros and Skyrush’s game, heck even LaffTraks scaled back puzzles. Hell even the lead up to InvadR was interesting and fun. I would love some park to bring back something like that and I think it’s super easy to do. Get a bunch of marketing interns, then have someone within marketing supervise the intern team running the game for people and have the announcement in late august early September.

I agree with the above - I have no problem with information being held back for marketing purposes - but in this case it seems that false/misleading information was released to media with no further clarification being offered, and the new-for-2024 ride still has no mention on the park's website despite a 2024 pass sale happening. It's not how I would choose to promote a new multi-million dollar attraction, but that's just me.

Plenty of press outlets did, mine included.

You're entitled to think the park didn't give enough information, but that's hardly an objective measure. More like a standard you're personally demanding of the park. There's plenty of readers who will be interested that a new coaster is coming without having to know what the entrance area may look like or exactly what elements are included. Especially on a family ride.

Hmm…no mention of “swinging” in that description. I guess they could always put an upside down pineapple by the front of the ride to cover themselves and save face 🤷‍♂️
No mention of the on-ride audio either, so I guess an omission does not automatically equal something does not exist. I'd be surprised if it wasn't just the standard family invert model at this point though, possibly with the addition of the articulating seats.
