^Holy Hell!

Those prices are insane!  $14.99 for a Bacon cheeseburger, fries and soda?!?!

Looks like I'll be packing my lunch from now on!

Exactly! I was absolutely livid. After talking to various employees throughout the park, it sounds like basically everything was raised by about $5. I kid you not. $5. What is their reasoning behind that? I like KD's food, but $15 is absolutely ridiculous.

The Dining Plan is looking a whole lot more attractive now- and part of me wonders if that was their goal.

As a side note, the chain restaurants (Subway, Panda Express, etc.) were not hit with this drastic price increase.

Again, can anyone confirm if the items are available individually, without being a combo with a drink? I think the process might not seem so shocking if we had that information.

I'm sure you can. I believe I did so at Victorias Pizza. I only got a piece of pizza and breadsticks. No drink. It was $10.04 after pass discount.

Reminds me of the cheeburger cheeburger in the Richmond Airport.

For comparison a Cheeseburger, Fries and a large drink will run you $11.68 at BGW's Squires compared to 14.59 at Jukebox. (this is where BGW sees there's room to raise their prices too. :-X)

How are the prices at Chick-Fil-A?

I was not able to check Chik-Fil-A's prices because I visited on a Sunday, but the other two chain restaurants serving meals (Subway and Panda Express) did not seem to be hit with this price increase, at least nowhere near the extent of the other restaurants. Their price still floats around the ten dollar mark.

What I would like to know is what they are charging for an entire pizza at Victoria's this year and if we get our discount there if we show our season pass?

I'm not sure about the price, but you do get 10% off with season passes. It seems the locations that do not have the pass discounts are booths without the regular registers (games, BoardWalk Fries, ect)

Thank you. For us, getting 2 whole pizzas works great for our family. It used to cost us about $50, but we would time it so that it wasn't lunch and it wasn't dinner and it got us through the day.

Good news, everybody! After a chat with a few friendly employees at The Hungry Hippo and Country Kitchen, it sounds like the park wasn't hit with that much of a price increase as it seems. How is this?

Well, last year (and in years prior) every menu option was purchased separately, or ala carte. In other words, last year if you wanted a drink and say, a salad with your sandwich, then you would have to order a drink, a salad, and a sandwich.

This year, however, most menu options automatically come with one, two, or even three sides and a drink. Luckily, if you're like me and like to save money by just sipping water with your meal, you can easily request your order ala carte. So, if you want just a sandwich, just request it without the sides or a drink.

Ordering without a drink takes off $2 from your order, and so does each side.

It's rather inconvenient in my opinion, but at least you have the option to still eat cheap(er).

The all you can eat bracelet is $30, though, right? I have a family of 5. That is $150 for my family each time we go. Usually we stick with one meal in the park to help save costs. That meal is usually pizza at Victorias where we get 2 pizzas for $50. I am sure it is more than that now, though

I haven't tried the Dining Plan personally (usually visit with my family of four), but I definitely am interested because there seems to be a trick to easily save money. Among my family of four, two Dining Plans could be purchased and my group could split in half. Two of us could eat with the Dining Plan while the other group enjoys the park. 90 minutes later, the other two could eat with the same Dining Plans. By switching off, you essentially get half of your meals for free.

Joe I am with you. I thought about the same thing. It is hard on a family to spend that much on food for 1 day. I personally think that you should get a free drink with each meal on the meal plan, but I don't think you do.

Well we went today. Just me and the 3 kids and we visited our normal spot for our meal - Victorias. We didn't buy any souvenir cups, so I bought 4 Dasani Waters (they had a 4 for $10 deal) and 1 pizza. With my gold season pass discount, it was under $38. I don't call that a bargain, but since that was all we spent inside the park, not bad.

Money Saving Tip: Eat at Border Cafe and order the quesadilla. Much like Chipotle, you can fill it with as many fixin's as you want. Load your quesadilla with as much as possible. It makes for a meal so filling that you can easily share it among two people, therefore cutting your spendings in half! We learned this from experience after ending up throwing away half of our own quesadillas. Boom!

Joe, the Country Kitchen has always included 2 sides with your meal and a biscuit * [ * a biscuit was not included if you choose the pulled pork sandwich]. Salads, desserts, and drinks were a la cart. It was one of the few, if not the only in-park food location, that did this. The Country Kitchen has also had the greatest variety of side food items to go with the meat. Some of the sides are below. Keep in mind that some sides may or may not be available that day or might have discontinued or sometimes added mid-season.

Cold:

Coleslaw
Potato Salad
Macaroni Salad

Hot:

Mash Potatoes & Gravy
Macaroni & Cheese
Green/String Beans
Corn
Baked Beans

You could order extra side items a la cart. [I thought you could create a plate consisting of just 3-4 sides. No meat.]

Before this year's combo meal offerings, some places offered the sandwich with fries for one price. The drink was separate. Course, what is now the Hungry Hippo, has always been a la cart for everything.

I did enjoy my fish & chips dinner at the beginning of this season from Outer Hanks. That dinner included fries and coleslaw. The drink was the only thing I had to pay separate. The fish was hot and was not greasy; though, I thought the fish pieces were a little on the skimpy side.
