Well to be fair there's already 3 theaters near the entrance if you count the bandstand - also the theater in PS too. I dunno about Dollywood, but KD is mostly flat ground too so not hard to walk for most people.

Bigger question is if KD/CF is attempting to draw the same audience as
They should be trying to attracted new demographics in customers instead of the same thrill seeking market. They seem to have tapped out those people

I think their refocus on theming including JX and the overall park experience (also including improving the quantity and quality of live performances and food and beverage selections) underscores their new focus on the family market. We'll see with their next large investments if that's the case.

As a side note, I also would like to see a revitalization of the Action Theater where it'll be used regularly, just not sure a live performance space makes the most sense.

I know back in the Paramount days there were talks of putting in a Morgan behind Grizzly (pre-Hurler days here) but it never came to be. Besides that I've never heard of any proper discussion about the park getting a hypercoaster of any kind in the Cedar Fair era simply because they already have i305
I’m using what eltororyan said here but look what cedar fair did
Behemoth, 2009
Diamondback, 2009
Intimidator (carowinds) 2010
Busch gardens already had a b and m hyper, so cedar fair probably saw no point in adding a hyper, so they went with the giga
Maybe they could fit something back there, but I just don’t see it being a b and m hyper.

counterpoint:

Cedar Fair permitted Dorney Park to build Hydra and Talon despite Medusa, Great Bear, and Batman being built within that exact 10 year timeframe that Kings Dominion had to acquire a B&M Hyper. If Kings Dominion had any legitimate intentions to build a hyper coaster they would have by now. Their issue is they have a habit spanning multiple owners, and I'm talking like this is ingrained in their culture at the park, that they cannot follow through with a 5 year or 10 year plan more than 2 years without coming up with some other plan taking over.

Well if they stick it in Dinosaurs Alice's old spot and extend south down the property line, there's actually plenty of room for it.

But the cost of acquisition, refurbishment, and transport probably would be cheaper to buy brand new.

Grizzly and Timbers would be in the way if they extended it down there. And WWC and the Log Flume could be affected too. But the main thing is a lot of trees would have to be removed. That would kill the forested atmosphere around the rides there.

Maybe? Log flume is north of DA, so not affected... You'd have to go over Whitewater Canyon too to get to the flume. DA is also west of both R75 and Grizzly so unless the turnaround of the B&M in question if wide enough, it's unlikely there's any spacial concerns.

However, my assumption is that this would be much more expensive than just buying a new ride straight-up.

I know kd is focused on JX rn, but i just have to say this layout is pure perfection. Something like this would go nicely right next to grizzly… REMOVE GO KARTS!

Honestly, that would be awesome as a backwards coaster, as the second half shows.

So B&M and Mack are too expensive, and there were issues with Steel Curtain. Gerstlauer could do it but I'm trusting they build an infinity coaster in JX. So that leaves...that leaves...that leaves Zamperla to build a hyper? I've been thinking about this since last week. We'd have to see how their refurbing of Dragster goes but Zamperla does have a concept for a 230 ft tall Double Heart coaster. If they could build that someday, I think they could also do an out-and-back hyper coaster with Lightning trains. Make them seven cars each for reasonable capacity. It could have inversions too, so it wouldn't be your traditional hyper. If Kings Dominion were to build this I assume it would go in any of the following:
  • Just south of TT and parallel to Soak City while going out into the old Lion Country Safari grounds.
  • Area where DA used to be.
  • Stretch of land where apparently a Morgan hyper was going to go.
If in Old Virginia, I think it could have an Appalachian snow theme (not to blast Alpengeist) and be named "Avalachian" (portmanteau of Avalanche and Appalachian).

"But, but...Zamperla's track work sucks!" Does anyone know if the roughness of rides like Rollin' Thunder is because of the track...or the trains? They did make improvements to their vehicles with the Lightning train and none with the track after all.

Ooohhh… this seems to be the root of the rumor.

This future concept map has been out on the internet for years. I thought someone added it here a good while ago. Interesting to see what came to be and what never saw the light of day during the Paramount years.

Came to be:
Volcano
Drop Tower
James Bond in the Action Theater
Part I Water Park expansion
Go Karts (in Old Va instead)

Pipe Dream:
Starfleet Academy
Water Park expansion II
Stealth Coaster
Hyper Coaster

The rumor is that Six Flags America acquired what was supposed to be Kings Dominion's Stealth.
And looking at that map again, it's all for the better. Though Batwing was plopped down way at the back of SFA making for an awkward park layout, Grizzly stripped completely bare of trees would have been a big loss.

The Go-Karts would've been better behind Berserker off International Street rather than where they are today.

Also, that would have one heck of an awkward hike to the hyper coaster station. If they were ever to do something like this, it would make more sense to do an L shape out-and-back design, similar to Intimidator at Carowinds and Diamondback at Kings Island, beginning where the the Go-Karts sit today then running in between White Water Canyon and I-95. It could still have a lot of visibility from I-95.
