So, Mardi Gras was quite fun! It started snowing at the park around 6:45 and the park closed at 7:30 instead of 8, thus cancelling the 7:30 Carnaval Imaginique.
However, I saw the 5:30 in the instance this happened (I had a good feeling it would), and WOW was I surprised. In a good way too. For 20 minutes of showtime they sure did a lot in that time. I dont want to spoil the show for those who haven’t seen it yet, however it was quite good, nothing too crazy like with what you’d see with Cirque Du Soleil. For a production that wasn’t meant be be super big, I believe they did quite well! However, if constantly changing light patterns isn’t a good thing for you, the back of the theater would be better, but it’s still pretty bright!
I got to the park pretty much at opening, went straight for Apollo. Sigh. Sign said closed for the day. So I rode battering ram and teacups (zen rides!) and then made my way over to Oktoberfest, stopping to get some beignets at Cafe Lulu. Great beignets! Then watched the jesters for a few minutes while eating, one of them was quite fun with me, haha. They said, “My name is Beignet and you’re eating my cousins!” Made me chuckle. Went over to catapult and did that twice since no line (at all attractions. Made my way over to Oktoberfest, watched a few minutes of Samba Jamboree, great as it was last year, but in rhinefeld instead of next to the Oktoberfest games. Headed over to Mach tower (because it was actually open, plus another zen ride!). Then went over to Bolt and got 4 zen rides on that. Ops were KILLING it there. Dispatches were probably 45 seconds MAX. On the fourth ride I saw Apollo running so got back and sprinted to Apollo. Got halfway through the line and the dreaded “due to cold temperatures” announcement played. This is the part that confuses me. Mach Tower stayed open until 6:45, Apollo operated for 20 mins. Skyride was the only attraction that stayed open the entire day.
Food-
Only ate the beignets, however all locations didn’t have a lot of options. Most locations were either drinks or dessert. Only Grogan’s Grill had a menu of actual food. Das Edelweiss seemed to be doing good food, but they don’t seem to make it look like it’s open, which sucks. The only indication of it existing is the Mardi Gras sign out front with the menu. Got some good pictures from the visit, and genuinely enjoyed my visit! Pictures here:
