RE: Mäch Tower

I'm going tonight so I'll update you guys if there's anything new. Hopefully I'll finally see it testing.

RE: Mäch Tower

We haven't seen any actual testing the last two days. Although I heard it was happening in small doses. There are signs now on it that say "ride testing" or something, so I guess that's progress...

RE: Mäch Tower

1. Please you correct grammar, spelling, and punctuation. When you don't, it makes you look unintelligent.

2. They didn't build an Intamin tower for a variety of reasons. First off, they've had bad experiences with Intamin in the past (specifically Escape from Pompeii). Secondly, they wanted a rotating car. Intamin hasn't done that before. Lastly, they wanted on-ride audio which is another thing that Intamin has never done on one of their towers.

3. How can one metal tower be more "trustworthy" than another?

4. It malfunctioned during testing. If you chose never to get on a ride that has malfunctioned during testing (or even with passengers), you would be missing out on a ton of good rides out there. They're not going to open this thing until they know that it's 100% safe for the public.

RE: Mäch Tower

Intamin has drop towers that spin^ better designs even with them than Mach tower. Audio is not hard to install into a ride. I don't know if they've done that but I know they have on their roller coasters

RE: Mäch Tower

^ 40 seats around 1040-1360 guests per hour depends on the height of ride of course reference: http://www.intaminworldwide.com/amusement/Towers/Gyro+Drop/tabid/142/ProductNumber/Gyro+Drop/language/de-DE/Default.aspx

RE: Mäch Tower

So they could of gotten a higher capacity ride from a more established company but they chose not to. Maybe it just came down to price then...

RE: Mäch Tower

First, I want to say I love this site. I think this mach tower delay will improve both the manufacturer and BGW. Problems like this will force the manufacturer to improve and force the park to research their future rides to ensure the patrons are satisfied. I can only hope they take this lesson into mind when planning for the 2012 coaster.

I think it came down to pride actually. As much as I love Giles, he said they'd never work with Intamin after the nightmare that was Pompeii.

Thing is, the Gyro Drop has been the most reliable thing Intamin has ever designed and maintained. Moser's made their version once before(?), and is a smaller company. Not to mention, with the abundance of Gyro Drops and the proximity of the IntaRide offices to BGW, how could price have really weighed that much? I feel like, with all of the revenue JUST BGW gets, they could afford it. Hell, they charge around twice the price of KD, and somehow they could afford a Gyro Drop. It's not like the flowers and horses cost that much.

RE: Mäch Tower

^There have been fatalities on Intamin Drop Rides which could lead to high insurance costs for any park buying their products.

Exactly, let's not forget the girl who had her feet amputated by and Intamin Drop Tower in Kentucky.

Plus with all of the downtime of Pompeii and the effects problems in the ride itself, I am very glad they are testing this as much as possible to ensure its safety. I don't mind waiting just to feel confident in my own safety or that of anyone in my family riding it.

RE: Mäch Tower

So word on the street is that Bg is paying its workers to test ride the Mach tower...oh and someone reported today that a worker told them the ride should be open in 2-4 weeks

There can be/has been fatalities on any manufacturer... Most/almost all are from people not obeying the signs, tampering with the harness or from operator error... I did a 10 page research paper in eighth grade on the subject.

RE: Mäch Tower

Completely different ride said fatalities have occurred on. I dont think the Intamin Roto Drops have had Any. It's those pesky cable ones with four sides that have had all the problems...

RE: Mäch Tower

I haven't heard anything about the Roto Drops in terms of injuries, deaths, etc. I think it did come down to prejudice and price striking Intamin from the contract. I wonder if BGW ever regretted the decision when the incident happened but I guess they can't do anything now but see the thing through.

It was a prototype. They knew there was a chance. They took the chance to get the lower price and a new ride that nowhere else has yet. They understood all that could happen. The ride could have been assembled overseas and tested there and then shipped here. What fun is that though? The hate that everyone here thinks that Busch has to Moser now is nothing at all as you all tend to think.
