Why was there still a crane in the middle of the lift? AND that was a lot of people for just reporting on testing... It was similar to the special behind the scenes tour that BGT had for the media with Cheetah Hunt... Either way, MT will not open on Friday.

Media are given hardhat tours throughout the off-season to document construction and progress of the ride. There was another hardhat tour before that.

I know what a hard hat tour is... just wasn't sure if that article was a media event or not (my reasoning is the media was there with Busch's permission, therefore it is a media event)

Just because there was press there on a tour it does not make it a media "event" so to speak. Media "events" are more grandiose than that where they have special activities going on while the press is in attendance.

It was an event that had media there...no matter what you classify an "event" as...it was still a media event

You might look at it like that but the park won't announce it that way. They won't confuse that real media event a tour.

Any who, I'm done beating this to death. If you get it, fine. If you don't, oh well.

I get it just fine, I'm trying to end this. Right now we're going to classify it as an event that had media attending. K? Fair compromise

The ride not opening does not suprise me at all for some reason.

Media are invited to things such as hardhat tours and backstage tours. A media event, while a hardhat tour COULD be considered a media event, is generally-by definition-an event in which a product or service is presented to the media. Not necessarily does it have to include a chance for media to demonstrate said product...though traditionally they do.
That being said, I received an email this morning...and believe was the first person to tweet about it...that said the Media Day for this Friday May 27th has been postponed. No further information was given.
Now if someone who knows better than I do wants to PM me and tell me that day that it's rescheduled for, I'd be much obliged

I'm with you...I didn't expect it to open after seeing how much was still left. The one really bad thing: all of the people who don't have facebook or don't read buschs posts that are still expecting it to open Friday will be quite disappointed when they flock in this weekend

So, I'm wondering about how the ride/line will operate when it finally does open. Obviously we know the seats will vibrate, but I've heard that there's some type of intensity range built in. Don't know if it's some type of random event to somewhat change the ride every time or what. I also heard the loading will be done with some type of color coding system. I guess maybe just four colors that match a specific section of the car. I'm interested to see how the queuing is handled since that area is going to be packed this summer.

According to the latest communication from Busch Gardens Williamsburg, a last second issue has come up with the new Mach Tower ride that will delay the planned May 27th grand opening. They are now awaiting new parts from the manufacturer to be sent over from Italy, and will announce the new opening date for the ride soon.
On the rumor side of things, Screamscape sources tell us that the plan for now may be to push it back two weeks to Friday, June 10th.

Yeah but if someone doesn't have a facebook, odds are that they're not going to be checking up on buschs

I already have my trip paid for and resort booked for june 4-11. :( I got bounce passes so if I enter the park on saturday (4th) I won't be able to ride Mach on the 11th. I guess the best thing to do is to keep tabs on the situation and if Mach opens then I will just do something else on the 4th so that I can enter on the 11th. I am guessing that the park will be crammed now lol.

Park is always crowded on the weekends... especially with grade schools about to be done down here.

It will be open for weekdays when you are here. Shoot for then, otherwise the beach isn't too far from W-Burg.... AS long as you don't go HRBT.
