RE: Mäch Tower

From the BGW facebook page,

"An issue found during preliminary ride testing requires us to postpone Mäch Tower’s opening while we install components ordered from the Italy-based manufacturer.

The anticipation for Mäch Tower has been overwhelming. To ensure we deliver the best attraction possible, we decided to postpone the opening and will announce a new date soon.

Please continue to check our website, Facebook and Twitter page for the latest information. Thank you."

This has happened on other rides before... take Maverick this time

That was different though. Intamin and CP completely screwed up by thinking they could safely put people through that heartline roll they wanted to put in. Mach Tower's issues sound more technical, unlike CP, this is not a case where Busch is trying to overstep its limits.

If the tower is not ready to go on Media Day, there might just be a demo.

Another publicity failure scenario that would be.

Every major ride installation at BGW was open on media day. They are not going to invite press and tell them "Come watch our new drop ride in action."

Big Bad Wolf was not ready to go on Media Day, but the event went on anyway with a network morning show from the San Marco Bridge and Vincent Price there for opening ceremonies. They did take pictures of him on the ride, but it was all done in the station.

RE: Mäch Tower

Not ALL media days are when rides are running...

Forest of fun's was on March 7, 2009
Griffon's (first) was on March 20, 2007

BBW had serious issues though, with the change in companies making the ride. But every other major ride since Alp 14 years ago has had a huge media event where press were able to ride. In this day and age it's compulsory to have a ride open at a park for the press on media day, especially if it's the tallest attraction in the park.

As far as this delay goes I feel bad for the park. This is the holiday weekend that kicks off the summer season and they are going to get their biggest crowds of the year to date. It's unfortunate they won't be able to ride since the park relies on word of mouth for the GP to get the buzz out for them.

RE: Mäch Tower

I'm actually kinda glad it's not opening this weekend. I mean you're talking reaching capacity every day Friday, Saturday, Sunday, and Monday...Those that are there just for vacation and don't care about the tower won't be very happy about the crowds. Plus, it feels good that Busch isn't rushing to put people on a ride just to make a deadline that really wasn't officially stated or posted.

Griffon's media day was May 16, 2007. I should know that because I was there! And it had a soft opening the Sunday before that!

You do notice that it pointed out their FIRST media day...so fail on your part

There was only ONE media day for Griffon and that was May 16, 2007. That's when they had press from all over the country at the park. I was invited to attend the 5 a.m. - 9 a.m. group that they needed for filming. The company even sent the publicists from other SeaWorld parks to help out with the event (I spoke to the SeaWorld San Antonio publicist for over half an hour).

What was reported in March were the first TEST RUNS of the ride. It was NOT a media event!

RE: Mäch Tower

@griffonrox: Those are called "hard hat tours." Media days are when the media is actually invited to ride the attraction to promote it in their respective outlets.

RE: Mäch Tower

Dude, don't get your panties in a bunch. And you don't need to come at us like that. Just because we didn't get our facts right (btw I moved here after Griffon opened so I have no idea when and how many media events there were), doesn't mean you can talk to us like that. You could've said "Well actually [insert real info here]..." not FAIL! I mean really...just because we're on the internet doesn't mean you can talk like that. Take the words of Phineas and Ferb, "If you wouldn't do it in person, don't do it online."
