RE: Mäch Tower

There is still so much to be done with the ride that a weekend opening looks unlikely. Why do you think Busch hasn't come out and said that they're opening this weekend? Because they don't know if it will.

Or because they can still draw the regular crowd that plans to attend the opening. Simple marketing. They know if it is opening or not. Something of that magnitude is not left up in the air a week away to the management.

RE: Mäch Tower

No seriously, they have no idea when it'll be completely done. They have projections, but complications have risen

RE: Mäch Tower

You said this weekend they don't know. Of course they know if they are opening it this weekend or not.

RE: Mäch Tower

Not entirely...there is still so much to be done that you have no idea about. They're doing their best to get it open this weekend, but it's not guaranteed

They're fully aware. The media that is coming from an immense distant is required to know a head of time. They cannot be under a week out and still have it up in the air. The logistics do not allow for that.

They would have to open it on the 27th, they posted a contest for the first people on their blog saying if you win you must be able to be there the 27th so it could mean that those parts will go on fast and they can start testing Wednesday!

You can't just test a NEVER BEFORE RUN RIDE in 2 days!

Granted this is not a roller coaster, but roller coasters get tested for months. Cheetah Hunt will have been testing for 1 1/2 months by Friday. I was even skeptical of a 27th opening last week.

Im not saying two days, If he got the photos of that stuff yesterday they had all today and most of next week to test and put together, plus most of those parts look to be decorations which just bolt or rivet on! So it should only take at most 3 days to get them up with the amount of people they have working on this ride!

What I ment was there is only 2 days for testing before Friday... that is not enough time for testing

RE: Mäch Tower

I think everyone here is making valid points. I don't think it's prudent to just dismiss the idea that the ride is truly not ready yet since we don't know what information someone working on the ride may know. Say what you will about ride ops and individuals in the park knowing or not knowing info about future rides, but I'm sure ride ops know something about the ride they'll be working on.

Not every attraction is open when media day occurs. Sesame Street was not completed, the preseason media day before last season showed rehersals for Celtic Fyre, not a final product. If the tower is not ready to go on Media Day, there might just be a demo.

The park isn't going to rush an opening if it isn't ready and there are a number of indications that it isn't.

That said, at this point I really wouldn't be surprised if it opened on the 27th or if it was delayed, but it sounds like they'll need to be working overtime this week to finish it up.

Another publicity failure scenario that would be.

Every major ride installation at BGW was open on media day. They are not going to invite press and tell them "Come watch our new drop ride in action."

A bigger publicity failure would be putting media on a ride that hasn't been fully tested and have something go wrong.

All I have to go on is what I've heard people saying and what I've heard is that it isn't ready.

Like I said, they'll apparently need to be working overtime to get everything ready. I'm not saying it's an impossible task for the park, just a difficult one.

I'm not gonna argue with you there but I will stick to my guns and say that a media day would be pointless this Friday unless the ride is open. If the ride is not ready they need to reschedule the event. There is just no way they can have people from newspapers, TV stations and websites there. They can't review the ride unless they ride it.

Lots of media events get dates changed so it's very possible the park would do it if the ride isn't ready.

RE: Mäch Tower

I mean as i said those last pieces arnt that hard to put on i mean if they can put up an entire carnival in a week they can bolt on a few decorative pieces, plus they could have been working on it all day yesterday and all day today leaving a good 4 days which does seem a very short time but why would they already have the water dummies out if they were not planning on using them really soon?

RE: Mäch Tower

Theres still much more aside from the visual things. They still have to test the ride, the wiring isnt completely finished. The manuals still need to be completed, employee training, trying to figure out how to queue the extreme line on opening day...there's still so many little things that need to be done that you can't see and they can inhibit testing and training.

RE: Mäch Tower

Well they could take some of the best Ride-ops they have and training them will be much easier and faster than a less experienced ride ops. Plus while the workers build the ride, the executives can figure out the small opening day stuff, while others start to train the employees to the book part and once the ride is complete they can train them on the actual ride.

RE: Mäch Tower

Ok cool, i mean i dont think they would post a contest unless they were really sure that May 27th would be the opening day, i mean why would you tell the winners to clear a day of work if they had one and then cancel it, that would be terrible publicity and might hurt the park a little with there reputation. I mean there good at finishing things at the last minute, le catapulte was a good example of that.

RE: Mäch Tower

Yeah I totally get what you're saying but if the ride isn't ready, I don't think the winners would feel better if Busch isn't putting them a potentially dangerous untested ride...as lomg as they still get the first ride I don't think they'll mind that much especially if their safety is being put first. I guess well just have to wait and see :/

RE: Mäch Tower

The training for that ride will not take long. Nor will the testing. If they test that ride today through thursday then they have more than enough time. Plus water dummies were onsite yesterday so testing is very soon. BGW still hasn't changed the date for Media Day so assume it's still on for Friday.
