RE: Mäch Tower

Looks like the Pretzel shop won't be done either. I really wish that they would have something new open in time for the opening of the park every year. It seems like we always end up waiting till May. :-/

RE: Mäch Tower

I gotta think that pic is a couple days old at least. We haven't gotten rain recently and there is clearly mud puddles in that picture. We'll find out tomorrow.

RE: Mäch Tower

So far, I think all said and done, the area is gonna look alright. It's called OktoberFEST, so the idea was to make it look more festive, which it does to an extent. I'm pretty sure at the real Oktoberfest, the colors aren't beige and brown like we've been accustomed to. They still have another week to put the finishing touches on everything.

And thank God they brought back the traditional music!

RE: Mäch Tower

Newsie, I wholeheartedly agree about the music. I owe whoever is responsible for getting the old music put back into Oktoberfest a nice big meal at Das Festhaus. It felt like Busch Gardens again.

Unfortunately, I'm not nearly as impressed about everything else. The new layout of Oktoberfest feels like it was created in RollerCoaster Tycoon. Really, there are buildings and rides just plopped down all over a huge cement slab. Seriously, look at the new map. Also, there aren't any trees anywhere. Come on Busch Gardens, haven't you ever heard of planters? (You know, like the wooden ones you had before?) Too much sun, not enough shade. (If you get that reference, you win.)

RE: Mäch Tower

^I agree

I mean the new beer and pretzel place is opening next weekend...they have 6 days to do it and when Mach Tower is fully up I'm sure they'll replant, etc. to make it look nice...remember it's not fully finished yet so don't stat critically judging it quite yet

I thought those same things myself yesterday but I talked to a friend of mine and he said that area behind the pretzel shop is the beer garden. That area will look much better next week.

I'll be writing up a trip report later on today. I learned a ton of stuff yesterday about the changes in the park as well as its future.

The path with no trees is also the path used to travel equipment. Wait until it is done, broski.

Moved from the Oktoberfest thread:
I was going back and forth on whether or not to say anything, but I might as well...

Apparently there is some large problem with something coming to the park in the near future that would force Busch Gardens to pay more than they were originally given by Blackstone- whether this is the Mach Tower or the 2012 coaster is anyone's guess. The person I overheard talking about it does know what is going on. Trust me on this one.

I don't feel really comfortable saying such more because it was obviously something that wasn't meant for my ears. I heard what I did out of pure coincidence.

UPDATE: A source who requested to remain antonymous has confirmed that the delay is for the Mach Tower. If I get more info that I can pass along, I'll be sure to do so.

RE: Mäch Tower

A month or so ago I also heard that parts of Mach Tower were damaged on their way to Norfolk when being shipped over seas.

Apparently Behind The Thrills is pulling info from here

do they need permission to do that?

No, we have an open affiliation with Behind The Thrills. They also cited us in the post, any site can do that.

RE: Mäch Tower

From what I have been able to gather and from what I heard yesterday, there may be a delay in opening and it will require more cash from Blackstone.

ok....so im guessing it wont be opening on its target date?

I would not think so.

My post about BTT is more so to point out that much bigger sites are looking at us for information due to the mature and well informed nature of our members. Good job guys!
