Sounds like the dates are as follows:
Around May 1st: Parts start arriving (Confirmed by 3 independent sources)
Around May 10th: Construction begins (About 2 weeks from Media Day*)
May 27th: Media Day (Confirmed by Screamscape)
*Two week build time news from here

Man Newsie, you beat me too it.
As Newsie said, they have painted the metal structure surrounding the base of the Mach Tower. It's now an off-white color. It sounds bad, but it looks pretty good (assuming it's unfinished of course).

Is the structure around the bottom of Mach Tower going to be fully enclosed or open?

It is not supposed to be enclosed. I can't find a picture to it at this very moment, but the artist's rendering shows tons of drapery and festive flags adorning the two-tiered structure, afterall, the paint job presents it as if the tower is one huge Maypole. The structure is supposed to look like the streamers attached to the pole. I would love it if the structure was fully enclosed, so that the Oktoberfest area could complete the whole "village atmosphere," however, when you think about it, the only way to bring in a true village building would be if the ride was modeled after a beast of some kind, but Mach Tower is simply just that, a tower, so the crashing-into-building-technique wouldn't fit here.

Yeah, the circular columns look they are going to be painted with the blue/white maypole theme. I also believe they are going install another line of maypole columns around the parameter where the construction fence is now.
I'm only basing this on the concept artwork for the ride at the entrance to the park.

I wouldn't trust concept art. The art for Vanish Point shows that it would be blue, red/orange, and yellow. The actual pictures for the ride show that it is green and blue. Don't trust concept art.

The Coaster Crew is hosting an event at the park on the 22nd that is supposed to include morning ERT on Mach Tower. Mach Tower wasn't rumored to open until the 27th (the Mach Tower media day). Should we expect a soft-opening on the 20th, 21st, and 22nd? Anyone know what's going on?
