I am only making this comment based on the video of the early production of this show. I have NOT seen this show in person.
I sometimes wonder if the performers are the "filling" for the theater technology being used in this show. Like the performers have to compete with the production elements instead of that technology being used to give focus to the singers/dancers.
I have no problem with nice sets, lighting, and costuming, enhancing the entertainer's performance. But, if the production elements are so overwhelming that the performers are forced into the background, then it can throw it off-kilter. Sometimes less is more.
If you are trying to deliver and advertise this as live performance, then emphasize the "live".
Maybe that is why I long for the old Kings Production shows at Kings Dominion. They put on shows with very complex and elaborate sets, good lighting, and beautiful costumes. BUT, when watching the show, your eyes were focused on the performers. They were the stars. It was the same way with the older show productions at Busch Gardens.
