I had the Italian and Irish Fries and let's just say Les Frites will be the death of me. Will definitely be visiting more this season

It will be the death of me too!!! (Sorry Trappers)
I think Trappers will understand our switch, Luke. The Irish fries were really good! Looking forward to trying all of the other possible combinations.

Meanwhile, we noticed the number 76 all over the place. Anyone have an idea as to what this is referencing?

but it does beg the question, was the number picked for any clever reason. Perhaps some kind of reference to the old Le Mans? (I am not a BGW history nerd, so I am not really able to think of anything myself)

I initially thought it might be the year the park opened, but that was '75. Oktoberfest opened in '76, but I can't imagine why that would be celebrated in Aquitaine.

I would have thought it was obvious.

Oktoberfest opened in 1976, as mentioned, where some people thought LeMans was located. 1+9+7+6=23;2+3= 5.

LeMans closed July 5, 2006. 7+5+2+6=20;2+0= 2.

5+2 = 7

Steve McQueen died on November 7, 1980. 1+1+7+1+9+8=27;2+7= 9.
Griffon, which replaced LeMans was announced August 23, 2006. 8+2+3+2+6=21;2+1 = 3.

9-3 = 6.

7 and 6. '76.

WAKE UP AMERICA.

That's what we were thinking. We thought about when the ride opened, but it opened in '75 with the park. The search continues!

I actually wasn't going to bother with Les Frites because I'm not really a french fry kind of guy, but after reading your article I do think I will have to stop in there afterall. Thanks for the review!

I went to Les Frites yesterday and wasn't terribly impressed, but I'm going to write it off as opening day issues. When I walked in at about 1:30, the line was pretty short but the staff seemed to be standing around waiting for more fries to finish cooking and come up to the line. Some of the serving staff didn't seem to quite know what their job was and were meandering from task to task behind the counter, so it looked a bit like musical chairs. My girlfriend was in front of me in line and got her order of poutine, but then the server walked away to get a rag to wipe up the counter while the other server started taking the order of the people in line behind me. I ended up standing for about three minutes while nobody took my order and the people behind me went ahead of me. I ordered the Irish fries and the server struggled to squeeze enough sour cream out of the bottle, so instead of going back for more she just left the very little she had managed to get out of there. I wish I had gotten a picture, but the ratio of sour cream to fries was almost hilarious. Then there were issues with the family in front of me trying to pay with cash, so it took me another five minutes before I could pay and leave with my food. The fries (lacking sour cream) weren't that great, my girlfriend seemed to enjoy her poutine a lot more. I noticed managers all around the place, so that was encouraging. I've had plenty of bad experiences over the last couple of years with the food serving staff, so this is about the level of service I tend to expect. I'll make another trip back soon to see if these were just opening day hiccups or not, it's definitely a restaurant I want to become one of my favorites.
