It looks better but it could still use some work (particularly the wood fence in the back and the metal fence around the ride).

The wooden fence is there because right behind it is the employee entrance/exit and their break area. I'm sure you don't wanna see employees an their phones eating food while riding/waiting right? The wooden fence is kind of the only thing they could put up there besides a cement wall...but that would take too long

I personally think the ride is fitting into the area well. The style is the same as the seating area around it. The only negative I see is how the queue speakers and wiring for the queue lights doesn't blend in and sticks out.

Why couldn't they have used the same fence they used around the Smokehouse eating areas? I think that could make a huge difference...

Canopy!!!!!!!!!!! :D

I am sure they have their reasoning to it but I have yet to see it in person. Grop got it right up there. Right behind the fence is where everyone takes their break, eats, phone, etc.

Seriously?

A bright red paint job with a thousand carnival lights on top fits into the area? I don't remember seeing anything about carnivals (or electrity for that matter) in my 1800's history books. :D

They could have painted it like wood and used lashing to make it look like, oh I don't know... a catapault? or if they did'nt like that, how about painting it to look worn and rusted like it was a piece of abandoned saw mill machinery? Or, using the stretched canvases on it now they could have gone with a hand made native american (or native canadian I suppose) theme. Heck, at least It should have been an earth color to "fit in".
How could they have missed on this thing by so much?
An extra 5 or 10 thousand spent on this classic would have made all the difference. Right now it looks odd and cheap. It didn't have to.

It's the little details that matter, and speaking to that, I just noticed the mugs hanging off the "Three Rivers" roof, great detail! I loved it.

I thought I was over this thing, but I guess not.

For the record, I do like the new Oktoberfest, just relocate those old welcome (or Wilkommen) poles.
Oh and the owl house in Heatherdowns is a great addition.

Would you really want just another ride to be blended in with generic colors? I think the red is the best option they could have done for it. It stands out and pops just as it should. The lights are the same that were on it before just on top of a different color. Lumberjacks up north actually used to wear a TON of red and paint even more stuff red so that is easily spotted by the eye.

I don't remember Bavarian villages being painted in bright primary colors.

My guess is they are required to have a sturdier or safer fence because it is the fence surrounding a restricted area. Having that wooden fence wouldn't be safe.

If they do return, it wouldn't be till Mach Tower is up I'm sure.

I think Le Catapult has no other choice BUT to be red. I mean the only way you'll really see it (if you're not paying attention) is if you're using the restrooms, going to the train station, or going to the log flumes. Most of the traffic goes right around where the Catapult is and no one sees it. If it were a neutral color it would be less noticeable but with the red you can catch it out of the corner of your eye.

Just to make sure we're talking about the same fence...

Also, if they had to make it safer, why not just build the fence above in front of the wooden fence that's there?

I think vaughanvt is right, if they put those wooden fences there a kid could climb through and be killed by the spinning ride... they probably just know that those fences work so they decided to go with what they know works and I don't blame them...

Those aren' even a half of a log right there. It is the front 40% of a log and backed by a standard frame fence.
