We rode it today, it seemed really slow.

I would think it would be for a bit. After a fresh rehab my best guess is they would run it softer for a bit to get everything nice and seated.

The ride was running very slow today. Also when I rode there were 4 ride attendents opperating the ride: 3 checking each little group of cars and 1 running the ride. I dont think they need that many people to operate this ride, but I am sure there is reasonning behind this nonsence.

The reason for so many people running it is because they had one lady there who was training the other three. I noticed the speed as well.

Is the theming not finished? I hope that's the case.

I don't think it is. I'm assuming they are going to cover the queue line. Not crazy about red paint. An earth tone would have been better. A different fence would have been nice too. I did like the little logo on the cars though..so i guess that's one positive thing.

Damn BG, this is shockingly poor show.
I guess quality isn't exactly "job #1" anymore.

I'm also guessing Mach Tower will be more of the same. Oh joy...

I've spent enough time on my soapbox here.

Looking at the build of the posts in the queue I am almost positive that you will see a covering go up. That will change the entire look of the ride. Outside of that and the color, it isn't much different that the previous location.

I don't think covering them will help all that much. It's still built on a huge concrete slab surrounded by an ugly, generic fence with a brown wood fence in the back.

By the way, if anyone who is reading this thread hasn't been yet, you really have to be there to see how plain and open they made this area. When I'm there Friday, I'll try to get an overview shot or two.

Just to play Devil's Advocate: What flat rides there have such great theming? Not sure what people were really expecting? It basically looks exactly like it did at the last location, except red.

This.

Maybe your expectations are way too high guys. This ride isn't a much different layout from the previous setup. The queue looks like it will get the same cover treatment as the Trapper's Smokehouse eating areas.

Battering Ram, Da Vinci's Cradle, The Flying Machine, Turkish Delight, Tradewind. Oh, and The Catapault.... When it was in Hastings.

plus the only way we're really going to get much more "greenery" is if they physically planted trees...when it was in Oktoberfest, the trees were already there...we have to give the new location time so they can plant trees and cover the queue line and make it faster...maybe it'll look different this weekend

but is it so much "theming" with these rides? Granted Battering Ram, DVC, and TFM have a theme but with TD, it's more the fact of hte big tea pot, a huge covering, and cool seats...the only theme is really teacups which is a given. And tradewinds doesn't really have a "theme" persay, just a large covering and lights. Now when the catapult was in Hasting...well I'm to young for that so I'll give in there

But, the theming on those rides is built into the actual rides themselves. They all still have generic iron fences and plain queue lines. DVC is really the only exception to that.

Was anyone really expecting them to completely re-make the cars on the Catapult? Grant it, there's more they could have done, but I think I'm missing why it's supposedly so horrible compared to...what, exactly?

Like I said, greenery, in this case, matters more than anything. Could they of themed it better? Of course, but if they don't want to put the money into it to do so, they could of at least put in some planters with some young trees that grow nice and large in a few years. That's what the area really needs.

It is a pretty tight space in there now. The thing that upsets me the most about it is that we always used that little bathroom there that was never crowded because nothing was back there. Now it's right in the path of the exit. Grrrr

^I didnt even know that bathroom was there til Saturday.

Yeah, I didn't know it was there either until the 19th. I mean, I guess they wanted one in every country, but that one is really out of the way.

Am I the only one that really doesn't mind the red paint (I may even like it better, haven't decided)

Honestly though, I feel like one of the major negatives for the ride aesthetically is that it is tucked so deep into the corner. I know there is nothing they could really do about that, but just the feel of it being somewhat open in Oktoberfest vs. boxed in gives it a totally different feel
