This has kind of fallen by the wayside, so I thought I might bring it up:

The Katapult was moved to make way for Mach Tower. We already know that it will be placed where the Canadium Palladium is located. While it may seem like a simple move, I quite frankly think it will breathe some new life into the area of New France, which is, honestly, a thrill-lacking section of the park.

Any thoughts on theming or ideas for the replacement? I seriously doubt the park would simply tear the tent down and leave the slab there and just put the katapult there. I've gotta believe the park would add a bit of theming and spruce that area up since it has sat dormant for what, three years?

Admins: I just read that this is vaguely covered in "Changes to New France." Feel free to move the post to that thread if you see fit. Thanks!!!

I wouldn't mind seeing them revitalize the eagles nest area either... That's just next door. Maybe that's what we'll see in the next few years. But the best thing there is the train and Le Scoot. I'll have something to do between Griffon and Alpengheist. I'm hoping to see it "built" out of "logs" and "rope" with a wooden fence around the outside.

well if they do move it then it seems the smartest thing to do would repaint it to try to match the themeing.

I hope they'll keep the Canadium Palladium standing and just put it inside of the place. The stage could be removed and replaced with a themed wall and the line area for the ride.

If they do that it'll be a tight fit. I'd say it's very unlikely for that to happen. I do see them painting it so that it looks lashed together. I think it will look ok that way, not the best, but still it would fit the theme. Also, I suspect that they will make the queue similar to the dining canopies. It's both cheap and fits.

I'm still angry that there is no show there anymore. They will have to make this thing pretty impressive to make up for the removal of what I considered to be a 'must see' when at the park.

eh, I mean I wasn't a big fan of whatever was going on back there the last couple of seasons. I think a large part of the problem is that it's off the beaten path.

Does anyone have any thoughts on the name? Surely it won't still be called "Der Katapult," it wouldn't really fit with the theme of New France.

Maybe: "Le Trebuchet"

Maybe something to do with a saw mill.

i dont know they might keep the name because when i hear katapult i think a massive wooden structure.

Yeah, but... "Katapult" is German and as far as I know the Canadians never used them.

I know im trying to think on the level of average park visitor...I dont think many would know what a tebuchet is compared to a katapult...so its a war over themeing and guest relations.

The ride has always been called Catapult in some form, wheather it was German, English, or Italian. If the name changes when it goes to New France it would be the first real name change for the ride.

True, if history dictates, then we probably should expect something like Le Catapult like Shafor said.
