These things are always going on, they just aren't always as high profile. Almost every ride CP installs is "the biggest" by a minute margin just so they get the record. I wouldn't say this starts a war, but parks like the have the "best" one around, and they equate "best" to records.

Ultimately, I'm happy for BGT. This will be the hyper they should have gotten, technically the counterpart to Apollo's Chariot, instead of Gwazi in the first place. Now BGW needs a Kumba counterpart, RIP Drachen Fire. Madrid could fill that role if it has enough focus on inversions instead of airtime.

If anyone finds a livesteam, please share it! I just have a Twitter search going this evening right now. Looks like the announcement should start around 6.

This very well may be the longest 12-15 months of our lives over here. Incredibly excited for this. Cannot wait for more details and a more substantial POV.

So... I have a theory.

The teaser video BGT posted is riddled with errors and the one piece of "concept art" we have of this coaster is a screenshot of a comically poorly done NoLimits recreation. In light of that, I'm going to go out on a limb and say that most of what we've seen about this coaster is only very roughly accurate.

The teaser video clearly shows orange RMC track while the "concept art" shows purple. I'm guessing the rails will be two different colors a la Joker at Six Flags Discovery Kingdom–one side orange (Gwazi Lion) and the other purple (Gwazi Tiger) like the original Gwazi logo.

On a simular note...

Judging by the 200+ foot height and the location of the highest point balloon they flew as advertisement last night...

It sounds like this massive new lift hill will be all-new construction. Presumably it will use a steel arch structure a la Goliath at Six Flags Great America instead of a traditional wooden support structure as is shown in the "concept art." Image for those who aren't familiar:

That all sound good except that this concept art is what BGT is actually using to market the ride. So that leads me to believe that this is more likely what the hill will look like. Don't think that they would use concept art that they didn't create in house or pay to have made.

Golioth was announced with a traditional lift hill as well and then the actual structure was unveiled during development. Additionally, lets not forget that BGW announced InvadR and published marketing materials for it before the layout was even finalized leading to a second version of the layout being unveiled a couple months later.

When parks tease new attractions this early, there are normally still decisions to be made.
