Impacts of the Six Flags Merger on Kings Dominion

perhaps I am taking statements to literal but all seasonal employees were let go during Covid while many or all full timers were retained so I was taking it as 10 years of continued employment which might be reading to much into the statements.
My understanding is there were some year round part timers let go as well. Virginia Department of Labor currently does not list KD on their list of mass layoffs and they track and report layoffs of 50 or more. Their list includes a lay off that happened only the day before KD's so it appears to be pretty well kept up to date. Also these were instant lay offs with no WARN notice given which is federally required for a lay off of 50 or more from a single location. Based on that and sources I have talked to the number is somewhere in or around 20 with the 90% being year round full time hourly.

NOTHING good ever comes from a merger for customers or non executive employees. Never.

Been busy at work so just now catching up on things, but this post is clearly done by someone over exaggerating. This does suck and I know people who were there for years let go, but trying to throw in racial bias along with the park is cutting safety standards is insane. "If you ever see people in blueshirts, they were always white" is simply untrue and downplays how diverse the park was. I can see this being a long spring with the park being understaffed however. A lot of people let go can't come back for 13 weeks if they choose to return as seasonal, and many won't return at all.
I am hearing Chef Marcus and much of the senior culinary team have been get go and to expect drastic reduction in food quality this year. Sorry to keep piling up the bad news.
Food was one of the best parts of KD, and was close to the best food in the whole chain. What the heck?
With a few six flags parks hiring executive chef’s for the first time (was it at least Fiesta Texas, I can’t remember now) it doesn’t seem like the chain is doing away with the idea, but actually implementing it to large parks.
If this is true, KD clearly got the downgrade to the lowest tier parks. Six Flags America and Frontier City here we come!

So just fries, chicken fingers, burgers, chicken nuggets and corndogs, pizza everywhere. What other generic garbage is there?
Carowinds is laying off a large number of their FT associate as well. 2 days ago it started in Rides, yesterday in Park Services and Entertainment
Can confirm they were let go last week. Corporate chef will be making the food decisions for KD is what I heard.
If that is true, I wonder about places like grain & grill & outpost cafe. It would be really weird for them to suddenly switch to very theme parky food. Especially with all the effort they put into both of them, and moving them away from the garbage they sold at outer hanks and panda express
With such a large merger, there are absolutely opportunities to save money (and make investors happy) by combining resources and contracts, as opposed to outsourcing niche skills, tasks, needs. Chef Marcus should have easily been upgraded to a regional chef, and oversaw the likes of KD and Six Flags America, or add in Dorney too, as opposed to being let go completely and make all decisions from a centralized singular person. Heartbreaking!

Gotta love KD putting up an Employee Appreciation post and most of the comments are dragging them for laying off the full time employees just over a month ago
A rumor circulating amongst general reliable sources is she was let go as part of corporate restructuring. I have not been able to solidly confirm it but believe it most likely is true.
