The stand is not fully set up or ready. They were supposed to have registers and the display setup and used the whole thing, but they are just now figuring out the logistics. For example, ALL merchandise has to be brought out each day and then packed up and removed each night, which for a supposed huge stand, is quite difficult. The registers are obviously not setup yet like they really should be. They are more or less really behind on getting the logistics figured out.

They replaced a show with light swords..... No. It could be the best light sword stand ever, still no.

At least with HOS they sell booze there.

Hey David, they could be REALLY SEXY registers. You don't know. Don't hate.

Was just reviewing the pictures of the giant critters and noticed something about Mr. Turtle. The way he is positioned makes it look like either he is about to get spanked or is ready to mate. One thing is certain though, he sure is holding onto that log for dear life!

Also, are any other shrubbery enthusiasts upset about how many plants gave their lives for these animal erections to have their moment of glory in the sun? They sure do take up a lot of real estate in the flower beds. :(

Hi, I'm new. I am planning on photographing the fireworks from the boat dock tomorrow night, where on the boat dock is the best spot and how early should I get there to claim a spot for me and my tripod?

My party of seven went on the Illuminights on the Rhine cruise for my husband's 55th birthday last night. We met at the boat house at 8:45 and were assigned to the green boat (Barbarossa II). Shortly thereafter we boarded, along with nine other people. They were running the red boat also and there were a similar number of people aboard it. We happened to see Bobby from BGW tours there and mentioned it was Paul's b-day and shortly thereafter the whole boat struck up a rousing rendition of the birthday song. My husband was thrilled...he loves BGW and was delighted. I thought it was very considerate of Bobby to have told the boat captains of his occasion.

Before long we were underway and headed straight out to the dam at the end of the man-made lake. We were asked to keep seated until we passed under the bridge by Verbolten since people sometimes throw things off said bridge but after that we were free to move around. It was just a lovely night and we stood near the bow and enjoyed the view and the breeze. Our tour-guide, Ashley, provided us with unexpected snacks. We had our choice of 2 7/8 oz. Lays, Cool Ranch Doritos, Regular Doritos or Cheetos. Also offered were 20 oz. bottles of Coke, Diet Coke, Coke Zero or Sprite.

Another unexpected pleasure was the attendance of Ashley from BGW tours. She availed herself to answer any and all questions we had about the park. She was very knowledgeable and satisfied our curiosity on many, many (ok, we talked to her a lot!) queries. Our boat circled the lake for a bit and then was put in position facing the railroad bridge close to 9:30.

The fireworks began and, while the same as last year's, they were spectacular. The viewing spot from the lake is amazing. And we could see why we kept a safe distance when one of the large fireworks misfired and ended up in the Rhine with a huge attendance of smoke. The children (22 y.o., 22, 19 and 19) heard the music well from our viewing distance. I could hear it but it was more strained for me due to way too many rock concerts in my youth. The fireworks finally concluded and we again began circling the end of the lake until we got the 'all-clear' from the fireworks crew. We were not in a hurry because we were in good company, in a great birthday mood, and had Ashley and the boat crew to talk to.

We finally received the signal to head back and kept our bow position until close to the Italy-Rhinefeld bridge so to enjoy the view longer. The kids shouted up greetings and thanks to the workers still on the railroad trestle as we passed and they shouted greetings and wishes of good dreams back to them. It was about 10:15 as we pulled back into the dock and then made our way up the long series of stairs to Scotland and then to the exit, a very satisfied group.

Price: $15 for non-passholders, $13.50 for passholders
Suggestions: Bring a sweater; the breeze can be cool on the water. Visit the restroom before you depart.

train trestle

You just reminded me of something. In case folks didn't know, they shut down the trains by 8 PM. Why? Because of the fireworks crews on the railroad trestle/bridge. The train is one of my favorite activities to do when I need to escape and get my zen on. I actually forgot about this last night. If you are on the train and it is nearing 7:30, you may not get back around to where you want to go. Be prepared to walk. Can't believe it's going to be more than a month until I can get my late-night train ride in. :(

I saw them and video tape them from the Loch Ness Bridge, anywhere towards the middle. That area doesn't get crowded too much, at least not until a few minutes like 10 or so before the fireworks. Many people avoid this area for the stairs and hill. I recommend this spot if you are really interested in a clear straight forward see everything view.

If you want to have the leftover ashes falling on you and your neck hurting from looking straight up, Roman Rapids is a good spot. But honesty for pics and vids, I'd try to get decently far away with a clear view on the LNM bridge. If you want to be close Roman Rapids is the place to be.

The parking lot isn't bad either. Lots of breathing room. Only the occasional toddler honking a horn somewhere. I set a little tripod on the hood of my car. Got some awesome pics & videos!!

[split] Killarney Kommotion (2013 to Present)

It doesn't matter if I think it's crappy or not, it's whether it fits. If you can't fucking realize that tween pop does not belong in an old Irish villiage out in the open, why are you even posting on these forums?

I love the park, I really do and that is why I am posting. The park is not just about theme. The park is more than just feeling like old european villages. Illuminights by it's very purpose and nature is about letting loose and having fun, it doesn't have to make sense. As long as people enjoy it because that is what summer is all about. Why does the park play independence music on 4th of July? How are fireworks fit in old Europe? They don't. Going by that logic, there is a lot that doesn't fit. But it doesn't always have to. Especially with Illuminights.

So Illuminights is just an excuse for BGW to act like KD in your mind...

No, something that irks me is what do you guys want out of Illuminights. Are you expecting old time knights to ride their horses through the park because it just isn't going to happen. What I am getting to is by the very nature and concept of Illuminights, there is no theme to blend things in without things getting corny or not fitting the theme entirely.

So please enlighten me on what you think Illuminights really is and what they should be doing.
