I find the frog worse than even the pseudo French advertising/notice board pole ("purple thing") or even the set from Killarney Kommotion.

A cartoonish frog on top of an otherwise attractive fountain in the main entrance area of the park? What is this, Busch Gardens or Kiddie Land?

On top of not liking it, I just don't understand it. What is this supposed to convey? Is it part of Illuminights? And if so, how? And even if it is part of Illuminights, and somewhere Illuminights has a frog character, this is all feeling completely piecemeal with zero overriding theme.

What am I missing, especially since I am only going by photos -- maybe there is a unifying element or event going on that I'm not getting?

Yup, the unifying element is LSD.

In all seriousness, it's all just as disjointed and confusing as it looks. Somehow the park seems to think the IllumiNights branding itself is meant to tie all this nonsense together and, unless IllumiNights translates to "complete disaster", they're very wrong.

I just had an idea for a possible plot/theme for Kilarney Kommotion.

Picture, if you will, a construction crew demolishing the Abby Stone Theater, when all of a sudden Leprechauns, Fairies and the Historical Society come to the theaters rescue.

Now, of course, there will be some song and dance mixed throughout the performance. The crowd will be called upon to focus their positive energy toward helping. You guys get the idea.

I don't understand the point of all those animals everywhere. I guess it fits with the whole "gardens" concept better than what the park used to do.

The frog can go without any fuss from me. To be honest, I prefer the snail over the ugly streamers on the buildings from years past. The rest of the hamlet still looks as good as ever.

Glow Island looks decent, but the tree looks really tacky against the bushes. Is it meant to look like an incomplete metal tree or is it supposed to light up/do all kinds of cool things? I think the ants look alright.

- The decorations seem a bit more minimal/less intrusive than in years past. Contrary to popular belief, I actually like this setup. Before, the park was covered with ugly party decorations and crappy props, but now, it's just a few animal props here and there.

I thought it was supposed to be struck by lightning and look like the Jerry Bruckheimer opening for his movies!
 
To finally put this to rest, Glow Island is this exactly:

So yes it is an over-sized glow stand. It is NOT a bar and it IS a merchandise stand. I am looking more into this currently but from what I am assuming, the Games department may be all over this one. They were the ones who run the glow stands previously and the glow carts. I think it is only fair to assume they will cover this island.

Also, I would like to note, the snail is probably the worst part of this event so far, everything is decent or just bearable. The snail is ugh. So what is the light count for Illuminights compared to Christmas Town? I am sure that ILL has less lights, but just something interesting to know.

Remember it is all about branding and keeping with the "gardens" brand now. Forget everything about Europe.

Not with the park's current budget. -_-

I get what the park is trying to do with the animals, they're trying to give Illuminights a new theme to refresh the event. It really does look like they took San Marco's butterflys and expanded that idea around the park. However, it will not work. From what I've seen, Illuminights is still very much the same as previous years. The butteflys in San Marco are artistic and subtle, but these insects are cartoony and loud. My hope is that these bugs are a desperate even to inject some life into this Stephanie Meyer corpse (sparkly, but dead) and Illuminights does not return next year or if it does, something much more scaled back in order to keep the natural beauty of the park.

It's backlit. It is not a dance show. the mesh you speak of is just the vinyl texture. The turtle on the other hand....
 
They want people to come out and check out illumiNights because its a Busch Gardens encore. Most people would think they would have 4 shows since there are 4 showtimes. It's easy to get bored after seeing both shows and waiting until the fireworks.
