I was just reminiscing about IllumiNights this year, for good or bad, and realized that all other issues aside, there was a serious lack of something...

I do that in the bubble room at the Children's Museum in Portsmouth!

Ok I have a quick question didn't know where to ask it, but as for ILLUMINIGHTS , why can't the summer be celebrated with another show like the park had back in early 2000s to don't know when it ended, but why not bring back IMAGINIQUE or something similar since both GM & KK have the acrobats and do I big show like that again? I remember coming to the park and before the main show would start there were like lights up and roaming street performers doing Cirque du Soleil acts and it was very unique and let up to something more than a 10 minute fireworks display where people hoarded up walkways and caused commotion. I would even like something like we had at BGT KINETIX show which yes had cheesy type pop music but live singers not lip synching country cultured band half matching RARALALALAGAGAGA crAp. Also it would give the acrobatic performers from KK & GM more area to display their talents with a bigger type show. I felt so bad for those ladies on the twirling hola hoop in KK was afraid that close to building or almost scraping their heads on the ground. The performers are great just not the way it was done up. Just wandering bring back IMAGINIQUE or something like it to help celebrate summer nights, and I admit that type of show intrigues people I still even have a tshirt from IMAGINIQUE

We have been asking that grand question since the dawn of time, but really we have been asking that for years and many of us miss Imaginique as it is highly regarded as the park's best show of all time.

Multiple reasons for it's closure has been discussed thoroughly in a few other threads I believe. If you take a gander at the Everything Else forum, you may find two or three threads that end up eventually getting on topic of how come the park never kept the show and concepts of if the show returned, etc.

Thanks, Zachary. WOW! I was so blinded by the gaudiness that I missed noticing even the really bad is done in really bad quality. Since it took a grade school mentality to visualize this, perhaps they hired a local grade school to make it for them?

EDIT: I'm sorry. I didn't mean to put down any local grade schools. It probably would have been twice the quality if they HAD let a grade school make them.

It's funny you say that BGW Family- that was a running joke between Nora, Luke, and I through the entire event. :p We're 99% sure they just gave the Williamsburg elementary schools buckets of paper mache and neon paint and instructed the 2nd graders to create woodland creatures.

I saw Celticdog's post in Summer Nights and it made me wonder, what did everyone really hate about Illuminights? I think it was the best Busch has done so far to a summer event while still maintaining the Busch atmosphere. That being said it wasn't perfect, but it seems like so many hated it. It was cheesy and wasn't very high budget (since they don't have much money to work with when they pile all event budget into Howl) but things like the mini shows and the custom soundtrack were just kinda neat and it was clearly a lot of effort, compared to the now Coca Cola trainwreck

I fondly remember the Killarney Kommotion, and at the time I loved it. I was at BGW on or near my Birthday. I was younger at the time, and I guess my taste in anything was horrible at the time.

I really liked Illuminights. I thought it was a very well done event, especially the first year. Sure, the parade through New France/France was congested, Clocktober was fun to watch, and the whole park was very well coordinated with music and decorations. In later years the event de-evolved and we ended up with Killary Kommotion.

I remember the France mimes, the Legend of the Leprechaun thingy, the Clocktoberfest, and the Giardino Magico. As well as that beautiful saxophone theme they concocted. I still listen to the soundtrack on Spotify for old time's sake. I don't remember the kommotion or the parade, maybe that was after I last went.

I know the mini shows weren't super entertaining, but for some reason I loved constantly hearing that theme throughout the park and it like united everything. Each country had their own music, but they united under a whole park under the theme they would periodically play. And that theme still brings back nostalgic feelings. I'm glad of all themes they made over the years that they decided to keep Illuminights up on Spotify.
