I think that the cave could potentially be used as a part of the storyline. It could be the part of the house where you're attempting to "escape" the house and get above ground. Put a couple hiding places, props(if any at all), and actors who are "chasing" you, trying to keep you in the house.

Not possible, as a scare actor for the event, I can tell you there are very strict policies on any type of 'chasing.'

^At least he put the word "chasing" in quotations. Either way, the most they have ever done with the cave is exactly what we saw with 13. The space is very narrow, and I can almost guarantee that they would never remove any of it, even if it is possible.

I think they could technically bypass most of the cave altogether, although people would say "That was much shorter than 13." I at least want to see them use wall panels to hide the majority of it. However, please make the walls look like something worthy of a Busch Gardens maze. I once read an article that stated something like "Even the worst mazes left us staring at walls." That is what I want out of this experience.

I am so glad for Busch Gardens to finally have movie talent. I am especially excited in this case, because they still aren't going with the route of purchasing/using movie properties. That's one of the biggest things that sets Busch Gardens apart from the rest of the parks in my opinion. Also, in spite of having to do all of the other mazes completely in-house, they are the only park in the chain taking a risk of creating something on their own. If not for the scares themselves, that's why I'm excited for this year's event.

Overall park atmosphere. It'll be hard to see any progress on the houses except for exterior facades...Thanks!

I wish the policies were that 'strict'. It really depends on the SM; when I worked in 13 I would be constantly having other actors run through my room, ruining my scare. At least we don't have to worry about the park specifically encouraging it, though.

Unfortunately I was one of the actors in that cave part at one point. It is incredibly hard to scare people and I don't see it being good for much besides atmosphere. There has to be a way they can dress it up and set the mood without lazily dropping actors to fill the space, because that's what they did when I was in 13. At least when they had the trolls/goblins/whatever, the masks were enough to intimidate people.

Not able to make it to the park today. Anyone want to meet up Friday for a show or two? 1PM Fiends and then 1:30 stomp?

I'll be there friday and saturday. friday I have work until 5 though. Saturday I will show up early, go do some personal business and be back after 5.

A few changes have occurred in Killarney. The Inoculation Station is now closer to the Abbeystone Theatre with Frankenstein put in its old location. Props themed to the Unearthed house are also scattered throughout the village.

The Wild Reserve is once again overrun by spiders and dead things. Plus, the area nearest Killarney is home to a few Scarlett-themed props.

Most of Demon Street's decor is up as well.

Ripper Row is all set up.

Everybody be sure to give Matthew and Zachary a big "thank you!" for getting these updates for us.

Less than one week left!

I got some pictures through the fence of some interesting things near Scarlett's Revenge. From the looks of it, there may very well be some external theming to the house. Which is very different from 13, where there was basically nothing until you walked into the side door of a random building. Here is the first picture which shows a structure that is usually put around an underground shaft, along with a lowering rope. I don't know if this will stay in the location which is shown in this picture, but it definitely seems like it will stay on the outside of the house:

The next picture is of what I believe is a model of the work tent for the excavation site. Now, after thinking about it, I believe there also may be a possibility that this is some type of employee area for the builders of the house. However, when you look closely at it, I think that it is intentionally set up to look the way it does. But I guess we'll see what its true intent is this Friday.

A book was found in one of the walls of the house with some strange illustrations.

I wonder if these will be some of the creatures we'll meet in the house. I am so excited for Friday. It's amazing to see an event that started off with one haunted house, a haunted train, and a show grow into this seventeen years later. While I didn't start visiting HOS until 2003 it's crazy looking back at the amount of things to do compared to today. Seven Haunted Houses, Five Terror-Tories, Three Shows, Four Themed Dining Experiences and Bars, and Three Themed Shops. Plus, the return of the legendary icon, Jack, in Scarlett's Revenge. Less than five days...

From knowing the setup that they have in Tampa, I would say all of that is part of the setup. Tampa will actually have guests walking through the same area as what was filmed in the commercial and video shorts while waiting. Williamsburg is also borrowing Tampa's signature "Venue Flow" format to design this house. That format insures that they are able to fit everything in the given space limit.

That being said, it seems like Williamsburg won't be too slighted this time. In most venue flow books, they draw every scene as if it's a one-sided stage, or a side-scrolling video game. That is how they are able to take artistic liberties in rearranging props while still telling the full story. I hope this is a success so that Williamsburg can learn from what is, in my opinion, the best way to get the most out of a haunted attraction.

Edit: Here are two photos in addition to Connor's post. Some of these demon scrolls, as they call them, can be seen as banners in Ripper Row. Also, I am excited to see if/how they portray these costumes. In my opinion, the costume designer seems to have a sudden stroke of genius when creating dark macabre costumes. That gives me hope. Anyway, here are two more photos.

I love the use of the runes on the pictures. It makes them feel more authentic. its kinda cool to sorta know what is being said on the pictures.

Busch Gardens just posted a photo on their main site which made me laugh. I'm pretty sure this is BGW's response to an old photo that has recently re-surfaced in some image searches.

I know some people on this site have referenced a post on another site called "I-Mockery". It's a site for comedic photo reviews.

Here is the site and post that I am referring to. In this post they refer to HOS as "Gay by day, fright by night." Obviously, that sounds a bit offensive. I just think it's funny that BGW decided to attack this head on. Here is another "Dear VA Gazette." :p

Hate to be the one to say this, but the "Gay by Day" gag was actually a parody of one of BGW's old promotions for the event. What BGW just posted is just a reiteration of old marketing material, nothing more.

I want to be really excited by HOS this year. I mean it SOUNDS like they have made things better. But I can not help it; I don't want to get my hopes up. I just can't shake the feeling that the ghost of Scott is hanging around somewhere adding mylar and removing blood.
