Where was all the fog? It seemed that in previous years that there was much more fog everywhere. To me it really took away from the atmosphere and didn't even seem like it was howl-o-scream (unless you were in one of the Terror-Tories). :dodgy:

Just my opinion, but it seems to me that has been the case for a few years. It felt as if you would walk out of a house and be back in the normal (safe) park.

Thaaaarrr be fog over here as well me matey. Aaaaarrrrrrr!!

Serious question for y'all. Which is the least scary maze? I know this isn't an easy question because there are supposed to be more scare actors this weekend, I heard. But we have decided to bring our 12-year old Saturday, and I want to start her on an easy maze to see how she will react. Normally I would do them myself first, but scheduling didn't work out that way.

This may come as a surprise, but I actually agree with PK: generally speaking children do not belong in HOS. Based on her reactions to TV, movies, and roller coasters, however, she has become quite the little thrill-seeker and actually likes to be scared more than I.

A few years ago we took her in the easiest maze. She was fine, but said she didn't want to do anymore. I want to do the same thing this year: try out the least scary maze and see how she reacts. If she still doesn't love them, we will have the QQs, and just take her on coasters.

Related question, how "adult" is BB? I am a complete prude when it comes to what I will allow her to see (other than that ghastly Boston Legal fiasco). Is it innuendo-free?

(This, BTW, is why I liked the Pumpkin rating system.)

Any help is appreciated.

In MY opinion, 13 is the least "scary" for "startling" type scares. There were only a few when I went through both times. My friend however, thinks that one is the scariest because of the "real factor" as she put it. I startle super easy, so Deadline and Catacombs were the "scariest" for me. ROAE was meh, a few startles, but we went through it when it was still light out so we saw most of them coming, same thing for Cut Throat Cove. So actually, you could try and to do one of those two since it'll still be light out at 6 when they open.

side note- sorry for all of the ""

Did anybody do the Bucaneer Galley dinner or whatever it's called last weekend? I couldn't find a thread on it.

No, it's not an easy answer Nic. Different things scare different people, well, differently. Let me offer this as a possibility...go to Catacombs. Now before folks start jumping all over CK about this, let me explain. It is very simple. Catacombs does seem to be a FANS favorite, and is generally a pretty good maze. I choose this one because it is SHORT. Personally, I think all the mazes have been about the same for me as far as scares go, but some take up to ten minutes to get through because of long hallways, choke-points, etc. Catacombs is quick, easy, and hopefully painless.

You guys rock!

And yes, this is totally a subjective thing, but I trust the judgement of all y'all, and I figured I could weigh the suggestions and at least have some information, rather than making the decision blind.

My hesitation with Cut Throat Cove is the inclusion torture chamber elements (I'm not mistaken about those?). I know that I am projecting my fears onto Phia, but I am so sensitive to torture scenes that I literally cannot watch that part of Princess Bride. So, despite pirates really not being intrinsically scary, this maze might be awesome for me?

My initial inclination had been 13, since the structure and format reduces the tension, at least for me. But maybe CK is right. If she doesn't enjoy the scares shorter is better.

If y'all hadn't said Root was improved that would be the obvious choice!

I will continue to ponder and discuss with Tony.

Can't wait to see HOS next weekend. Woot Woot!
Hope y'all get some good pictures this weekend.

Shouldn't you go "Hoot Hoot" because your an owl (Or you think they R A Hoot)? Sorry I had too :p

:p You totally got me. I'm just so used to saying Woot Woot. I even do it when I see owls.

Have fun dining with Count Vlad CK. Maybe I can talk some people in my group into trying it out or at least hanging around to see part of the show.

I would start with Cut Throat Cove too with her, it's really not to scary actually is just lots of banging and fan flapping scares if any.

BB is great when we went my friend had her 10 year old so it wasn't bad except for people next to us flirting with the gypsy violin player who I love.

Zachary was correct BITTEN was weak last weekend, most scare we got was the actors flirting with my friend, until they seen me, than they were like LEE n pressed on!

Hope you have fun keep me posted on what you think Nic, I'm excited for Universal HHN tonight n tomorrow.

Enjoy Nic, oh if you go thru ROAE the demented giggle laugh is my BF, just laugh back at him. This is a pic of me n my flirty vamp I love her, she is crazy

First time poster....long time lurker. lol I have seen ALOT of talk about kids at Howl O Scream. In my opinion its all about the personality of the kids. Some kids are fine with scary stuff....others not so much. This is where the parents come in. If the kid isn't good with that kind of stuff leave them home. My kids as an example have been going in haunted houses since they could walk. They love it. I taught them early on that its all fake and going in scary attractions isn't bad its fun. Luckily my kids were receptive to it early on and now I can't keep them out. As an example...on the Howl O Scream webpage there is a pic of 2 of my kids,
my wife and me. Its the one where the ghillie suit guy is jumping out at us in ROAE. My one daughter, in the front of that pic, was 8 at time. Her face is priceless in that pic....as well as my wifes. lol
So anyway...Nic my suggestion would be to talk to your daughter and explain to her that its all pretend and its a fun thing as opposed to a bad thing. Show her people coming out at the end of a house laughing....then you say see nothing happened to those people they all had fun. Just some thoughts.
Good luck. I hope she has fun.
