Ok kids Suka Vayne is inside the park been here since 10 and already having fun. I like the theming in England and Germany area. Getting ready to go watch night beats and send pics in a few HOS I'm here.

Any more updates?

Wow, You know... I'm not saying don't enjoy yourself. I enjoy myself every single last time I go to the park, regardless of the entertainment offerings...

BUT.

The entertainment offerings are what makes me continue to go, and renew my season pass etc...

When they don't meet my standards (i.e or live up to other park's standards), I spend my time and money going to other places.

Comparing the park to other parks allows me to justify spending more time and money seeking entertainment options further away. If Busch is killin' it for HOS, then I see no reason to go get my haunt kicks from KD or anywhere else multiple times a season. But when the park is doing poorly compared to themselves in the past, or other parks within a reasonable drive... I go to those other parks instead.

Also, Rather than judge people on their taste, I merely present the idea that maybe people haven't been to other parks and seen what a well done halloween event can be. It's like watching B-movies all your life with crappy effects like you're stuck in Mystery Science Theater or something then finally being able to see a movie with well done effects and a great plot etc... And realizing you've been enjoying crap all this time. You still Enjoy that you enjoyed it, and probably still enjoy the horrible movies well enough... But then you realize that there are other things out there that can be better than the stuff you've been watching.

I'm merely suggesting that we come here not to be harsh critics of the park, but to see them excel in ways we know they can. When they resort back to "b-movie status" Then we complain because it can be so much better, and we pride the park on being one of the most notable parks in the world... When KD starts outdoing them, it scares and upsets us.

Anyways, I'm reserving my judgement of the event til tomorrow. I'm still not happy that there is only one new maze. ROAE apparently has walls which was it's major downfall last year, you could see EVERYTHING... So I'm glad they at least fixed that. Not excited to go through Bitten... It's been there for atleast 5 years. Catacombs as well. I like parts of 13. Love Deadline, Even with no actors, still a well put together maze.

Hmmm sounds like these are the same people that will argue that 2+2=4 is only "my opinion". Although I did have a friend who wrote a 70 page paper on how it doesn't equal 4 but that's a different story. We can continue to turn a blind eye for self preservation "now" but it will only make things worse for the future in all things.

A few more thoughts after reading what others have said. First, I do think the HOS is not "scary". I did think it was halloween-y, so it is in theme with the season, but it felt less likely to scare the pants off people (not talking about the mazes here, just the park).

Take the pirates. During the day, they are not scary at all. They are entertaining, which seemed very popular -- not surprising, because Kings Dominion has done pirates during the day at their Halloween thing for a couple of days. Kids love pirates, and this was not a risk for BG since KD has much success with their pirate entertainment.

But the pirates were not scary at night either. Some LOOKED scary, but they didn't act scary. Like they are pirates, maybe they should get in small groups and surround people and threaten them. Or should lurk behind them and freeze when looked at like they are following you to rob you. Or confront you and make you give them respect. Or something. Not just say "get out" (that was the number one thing I heard on Friday from scare actors -- not much of a message).

Demon Street is amazing, but not scary. Although there are some good scares there, and it is enjoyably watching people run scared from the noise of a chain saw. But the demons seem "to likable" to be really scared of them.

And they give in to that, or give up. I saw a few try t scare, but when people wanted to high-five them instead, that's what they did. Then the demons did break-dancing at the rave. That's entertaining, but not scary. They all got together and did a big dance, and everybody gathered around and had fun and laughed -- NOT SCARY.

Weirdly, the creepiest thing in Demon Street friday was a young male guest who took over the dance area and started acting like he knew what to do with a lighted cup. Then he was trying to direct people around to make room for the break-dancer. Like BG didn't have enough ushers to control the crowds, so guests should be doing it? Like I said, entertaining, not SCARY.

So BG wins for entertaining, not SCARY. Is that what we want? I certainly enjoyed it. Although having watched my video, I still think the Night Beats show is un-entertaining. Of course, the two shows I loved the most in the last 10 years were Monster Stomp and Eve's rockin midnight party (before the last year). Nothing is of the production standard of that Eve show. Fiends has grown on me.

I feel like I'm posting on a Disney forum with all the emotions.

Funny you should say that - I was just telling Pretzel that I was reading the work of a Disney blogger last night, and one sentence in particular made me think of the debates here:

...great food that isn't hard to get and live music. These were priorities of the Walt Disney Company until the late 90s, when Eisner began to hack as much Entertainment Equity out of Magic Kingdom as the park could stand in the fallout of the disastrous opening of Animal Kingdom, which failed to grow attendance in any meaningful way. During the late 90s and early 2000s, a lot of tourists who had been long time visitors stopped going, the new visitors didn't know what they were missing, and people forgot that it was ever like that at all."

Watching FIENDS this park is packed

I wonder how close it is to capacity. I've yet to see an announcement from social media.

Cool pic from facebook of Verbolten diving down into the fog:

This is pretty much how I feel. I'm going back to previous years as a frame of reference when it comes to quality. Back when well themed areas and scares were kind of expected and not being touted as a new feature.

Watched the Cut Throat Cove video. Considering their non-existent budget. The decor is pretty great.

But it's terribly empty. :/

(and that strobe room is going to be a nightmare. I just know it. It's going to be a repeat of Root's strobe room from last year.)

For David & his app:

Great, thanks! These are now in the app, and you will see them once I push this next update.

The only ones left are Blood Banquet and Innoculation Station! (I put the normal menu in for Buccaneer Gallery, let me know if it's any different and I will update that also)
