So would you say the same plan of attack from last year would work with the houses this year? (13, Catacombs, Root (if it's dark) Bitten, Root (if it wasn't dark the first time.) CTC, then Deadline.)

House-specific talk belongs in house threads. ;)
Sorry Zach ;) I'm waiting on your review of opening weekend!

I would never write an official review after opening weekend but I'll be dumping thoughts all over the place on the forum more than likely.

Speaking of thoughts, though I personally think a lot of the event is... fairly bad... there is quite the underappreciated gem hiding in a most unexpected place. Basically, long story short, Blood Banquet is the best thing ever.

Seriously. Read through the Blood Banquet thread. I haven't instantly loved something this much since I first saw Night Beats last year. I'll probably have a lot more to say on it (as I believe others will as well) sometime soon, but for now, drop whatever your doing and book a ticket.

I would do 13, Deadline, Skyride to Catacombs, and Bitten. At this point it would be dark enough for Root and CTC.

A word about Ripper Row and the "kidnappings"...

On Friday evening we watched the street show for about 15 minutes and saw about 5 different kidnappings. Today, there were some tables added in a few spots so we watched the festivities for about an hour. Not a single kidnapping. Found a "stage manager" and she explained to me that they put a stop to them after Friday's debacle. She went on to explain that not only did the growing crowds become a problem, but somebody actually got hurt. The young lady/tm who was in "street" clothes apparently suffered a fall or something and had to get medical attention. Also, there were a number of guests that either took it a bit serious or overreacted to the show and caused problems. Then, best of all, the parks own security got involved because they couldn't tell or were unaware that these "kidnappings" were real or not (even though she could be identified with an orange bracelet on her arm). A decision was made that this part of the street show was not going to work and they have been cancelled for the event. That being said, the other performers are superb at what they do. I particularly enjoyed the "head madam" in purple. She is so funny!

I would like to say that CK called this almost a month ago. Just sayin'...

Sigh. So, Lone Star, now you see that evil will always triumph because good is dumb.

(Not calling you dumb, CK.)

Since I can't seem to finish editing my old draft, lets get into the scare zones. I wasn't sure how it would work out, but most of them came together well with a few issues.

Ports of Skull - 2/5 - The weakest of the scare zones, they really need to expand this one beyond that little corner. Have it take up the entire garden and the Festa bridge or Pompeii path. The bungee dude was pretty awesome and the actors were alright.

Ripper Row - 3/5 - Actors were pretty good and I loved the headless ladies. I wish they kept the kidnappings, but I can see how it would cause problems. I liked the sets but they looked a tad on the cheap side. They should bring the Scavengers costumes back and add a few victims to the mix.

Vampire Point - 4/5 - This scare zone suffers from a staff issue. I saw a handful of people roaming around but with a scare zone this big, there should be more roamers. The actors were excellent. I love the hotel, Vlad, and his crew. Blood Banquet should be cut back though. Even on Saturday, there weren't many people eating there plus it creates a huge bottleneck.

Demon Street - 5/5 - Like Widowmakers before it chainsaws always win out. Combine that with cool special effects and DJ Satan cranking out awesome jams and you have a fantastic scare zone. I just wish they had a few more of those fire dancers on a few more rooftops and grim reaper wasn't changed into smiling demon. Add some stuff to Griffon's area too.

Overall the scare zones were pretty good for opening weekend. I only hope they continue to get better as they usually do throughout the season. Howl O Scream started off really weak in 2011-2012 and those years ended up being among the best.

Why is Sesame Street open til 8pm? If BGW wants parent to take their kids home before HOS starts, shouldn't the Sesame Street be closing at like 5pm?

I'll let you in on a little secret BGWScream: The park doesn't want families to leave before 6. They claim it to give themselves a fallback as parents begin to complain about how some demon with a chainsaw scared their child, but they don't actually want them to leave. Families spend vastly more money than individuals and couples (especially young ones) typically do.

It's sad but figured as much. Next complaint prolly demon street, and BGW is doing satanic stuff. Love complaints

Honestly, I have been puzzled by Demon Street from the beginning. I can't see how concept could possibly go well in the Bible Belt. Almost anything you do would offend someone. I think I'd end up with a DJ too.

That's why it's the very offensive Christmastown. Offensive to me anyway.
