It has begun. The season of Howl-O-Scream has started. Be prepared to be scared. Who will be brave enough to confront their worst nightmares? Who will survive the gruesome Gorgons of the Gardens, the bloodthirsty butchers of Meat Market, the Grimm storybook characters of Scary Tale Road, and the wicked Whitechapel murderers of Ripper Row?

Are they doing something HOS themed?

What are the spooky scary pumpkins in Scary Tale Road supposed to be referencing? Are they an allusion to Cinderella or Peter Pumpkin Eater? I recognize Little Miss Muffet's spiders, the Wicked Witch's gingerbread house, and Snow White's glass coffin.

I really hope the gingerbread house in Scary Tale Road gets finished soon. I also hope it has a brick oven that lights up and has flame effects/smoke coming out.

Hey, can someone give me some insight? I’m thinking about going to BGW this evening. Last year, I went twice for howl o scream. I went once on a weekday in September (maybe a Thursday if I remember correctly) and had an amazing time, not many lines at all, walked on most mazes and rides.

Then I went on a Saturday in October and it was the worst BGW experience of my life.

I’m driving from Richmond, would probably only get to be there from 5:30-10:00 tonight, do y’all think it’s gonna be packed tonight? Would Sunday likely be more crowded or less do you imagine? Just struggling to figure out if it’s worth the nearly 90 minute drive in rush hour traffic to go for a few hours, if it’s gonna be slammed I def don’t want to. But I don’t wanna miss out on my only chance to go before it’s busier in October

How does everyone feel about having something physically blocking the path on the main path through the park even during the day? it looks great but knowing how people are, I feel like that could cause issues.

It's opening night, so I suspect it will be busier this weekend than the next few weekends will be.

Thursdays are always a ghost town, Saturdays are always a train wreck, Fridays are good in Sept and get incrementally worse up through Halloween, Sundays vary between Thursday and Friday levels of busyness. All in my experience, could vary in others, but I have been going for 15 years not necessarily hitting every day of the week it is open every time I go.

My big trip with a lot of my friends and family I have set for the weekend of September 24th. I'd say any Saturday after that one you would genuinely have more fun sight seeing at Wal Mart. Adhere to the basic formula of Thursday when you can, early season Fridays for a fuller experience, and if it needs to be a late season visit on a weekend make it a Sunday, and you'll be fine.
