I hate the hot pink heads. I don't really know why, but I do. Gives me major bubblegum vibes and it looks like shit in my opinion.

They've always looked... not quite finished. Like they came that way, and were meant to be painted, and they just never got around to it.

Here are seven fun facts about scary fairy tales in preparation for Scary Tale Road.

1. In earlier versions of "Hansel and Gretel", the witch's cottage was made of bread and cake. It was not until the famous family-friendly opera in 1893 by German composer Engelbert Humperdinck that the famous gingerbread house appeared in modern adaptations of the fairy tale. It is also specified in the story that the witch has red eyes and a keen sense of smell but she is terribly nearsighted.

2. The exact age of Little Red Riding Hood is never specified in her story. She is predominately depicted as a little girl but she is also a teenager or a young adult depending on the storyteller. The story is often interpreted as a coming-of-age story or a cautionary tale about the dangers of sexual predators.

3. The namesake of Rapunzel is the German word for a European vegetable known as rampion or lamb's lettuce. It is a flowering plant. This is not uncommon since we also have feminine names such as Cassia, Daisy, Poppy, Violet, and others.

4. Just like Cinderella, Belle in the original version of "Beauty and the Beast" also has evil sisters, but they are biologically related to her. She also has brothers in her family.

5. The Evil Queen from "Snow White" was originally the biological mother of the Princess instead of a wicked stepmother. She wanted her daughter's heart, lungs, and liver which she planned to cook and eat for her royal supper.

6. "The Three Little Pigs" originally ended with the Big Bad Wolf being killed, cooked, and eaten by the third pig who wished to avenge his poor unfortunate brothers.

7. "Jack and the Beanstalk" originally featured an ogre as the main villain. Giants and ogres are similar but different creatures.

Still a ton left to do. Very little if the set pieces out. Some of those won't take long, but I'd be surprised if it's all ready for day 1. I'm guessing the first couple weeks will add more like usual.

I'm thinking of going this weekend but it looks like there might be rain. Will any of the mazes be open if it ends up raining that evening?

Will the costumes in Scary Tale Road be reminiscent of a Renaissance Faire or will they be modernized?

I found more music for Scary Tale Road

Note: Tempesto is NOT included on the Quick Queue this time around. Also, Mach Tower is also listed as an attraction to be open for this event.

Does Busch Gardens Williamsburg usually start posting Howl-O-Scream stuff on their YouTube and Facebook during September or October?

My family was looking into the Howl-O-Scream tour for my dad's birthday, but I can't find any actual information on it other than this. Is there somewhere else I can find more information about what the tour even is?

I'm not sure whether it would be better to just get some one-time quick queues and see the houses, or if the tour is actually worth it. Opinions are welcome and appreciated!!

Speaking from experience doing the tour last year:
Reserved seats to the shows was nice- you didn't have to fight (figuratively speaking of course) to get good seats. Dinner was at the Festhaus (though I have heard of them occasionally going to Marco Polo if Festhaus wasn't open for some odd reason), and the tables were the same seats for Phantoms of the Festhaus. My tour had 2 tour guides, one leading in the front and another to bring up the rear, there were about 20 people on the tour. The quick queue access was also very nice, no waiting in the lines (unless the QQ had a line), and we got to do all the mazes. Obviously monster Stomp wasn't part of the tour until it opened in late September (which is also happening this year). I believe the shows that you see can change some days.

All in all I highly recommend the tour if you're the kind of person that's wants to get everything done in one go, including the shows. Sure you could get QQ and Reserved seats, but the tour does that + dinner included, and guides to take you around.

Just noticed on-line that BGW has modified their Friday hours for the month of September. They were scheduled to be open 12:00pm-10:00pm. Now the park is scheduling to open every Friday in September at 2:00pm. Probably better for staffing, but I liked the 12pm opening better so I can get some more coater rides in before the scares start.... Oh well.
