I really hate when I go out trick-or-treating, and I keep having to watch out for little kids tripping around over their costumes, knocking into crap because they can't see through their masks and what have you. What we really need is to make an 18+ trick-or-treat thing so my adult fun experience isn't ruined by a bunch of little kids, who aren't really worthy of occupying the same street as me, anyway. I mean, I'm an adult for God's sake. I shouldn't have to be bothered by a bunch of little kids if I don't want to be.

You know...because I'm better than them.

That's what this sounds like to me.

Trick or treating is a kiddy thing, haunted houses could be either. If bg wants to make houses for older people, then keep them for older people. It's about having a good time that you paid for and having /one/ place where it's less likely to be ruined. Just because you're not into scary things doesn't mean other people aren't.

Well 18+ wouldn't be a good idea

Just because a few teenagers are immature doesn't mean they all are.

Not a few- the majority.
18+ can be just as annoying as 18-, an age doesn't tell you how mature or immature a person is, until you met majority of the teens that go to howloscream u can't really say anything.

You're 14, right? Thay means I've been going to HoS since you were in diapers. You can trust me when I say that a majority of teens at HoS act horribly.

Look, I appreciate what you are saying about not wanting to have you experience ruined by a bunch of crying babies, hooligans picking fights, etc. I totally understand it, I get it, and I agree that addressing the issue could provide a good time for people who are tired of dealing with it. I also understand that it's a pretty common problem. Additionally, I do quite like haunted houses. I go to Haunted Hayrides/Trails every single year, I've gone through the haunted houses at the beach, I watch scary movies fairly regularly (I just watched an awesome one called The House of the Devil that I'd recommend to everyone here). I don't really like SAW style crap, because I'm not a sadist and I don't get a kick out of watching people suffering, but scary comes in a lot of packages.

But all that aside, you have said yourself that there would be nothing in the house that would be inappropriate for kids (12-ish+). Your point then, basically, is that that little kids ruin your adult fun, and you want them out of there so you don't have to be bothered by them. That irks me. Some of the biggest idiots at any of these haunted events that I've ever been too are grown ups -- drunken grown ups who are too cool to get scared, but yet for some reason shelled out the $25+ to come to a haunted house. On the flip side, the people I see at these things who are seeming to have the most fun are invariably teenagers. Do they say inappropriate things some times? Sure. Do they giggle and cling together? Sure. But I don't own the earth, and who am I to just kick them out because I don't like having to deal with them?

It is so annoying to listen to a bunch of self-important adults whine about how little kids ruin their experiences. What are you doing that's so refined? What are you, British Royalty? BGW doesn't belong to any one of us. Everybody who goes there should be welcome to everything there (granted there's not some physical reason they can't participate). Stop acting like such an elitist.

Well ultimatly if you feel it's wrong for adults to be able to enjoy anything without kids, then that's the ultimate issue. I just don't think there's anything wrong with trying to address an issue by attempting to give adults something to have fun at. I also like how you think the only issue are teens in houses.

I'm under 18 and I'm whining about how the little kids are ruining my experience. What say you?

^You're a traitor. :p

All hostility aside, let's try this:

You guys keep mentioning statistics, majorities, and bad behavior. Well, after about 10 pages of this stuff, I have made two deductions. 1) The vast majority of bad behavior has been perpetrated by people under the age of 30. 2) The vast majority of bad behavior has been perpetrated by men.

Because of this, and since we're trying to protect the good experience of a significant portion of the BG going populace, I have the following suggestion: Any house that is designed for the purpose of preventing hoolganism must be either 30+ or women only. Now, I know what you're thinking. If you're a dude and/or under 30, you're thinking to yourself, "But, I am well behaved in the haunted houses, and I really like them!" Well, son, that may be true. But, statistically speaking, you are part of the problem, are you not? I mean, the statistical percentage of problem haunted-house patrons who are over 30 is probably close to 0%. Likewise, the statistical portion of trouble makers who are women is probably close to 0% (especially, as I understand it, when they are not accompanied by men...which they wouldn't be). So, I would say, what we really need is a restriction on the under 30 crowd, or just males in general.

What do you guys think?

I would be fine with it because it's only one house and they would be able to enjoy it.

Seriously though, at what point should we make everything accessable to everybody? Should they put Elmo in catacombs?

No. They should put whatever they want in the catacombs and then let whoever is coming through come on through.

Seriously though...shouldn't we bail on this 18+ idea and go with the 30+/women only idea? I mean, you can't commandeer EVERY house with different age restrictions. What a mess you would have if like, you had one 12+, one 15+, one 18+, one 30+, one No Men. Think about it.

If we are really concerned about the park going public, 30+/Women only is the best plan we've come up with yet to alleviate the stated concerns.

Is it not?

A woman only 30+ haunted house. I for one would love to see that somewhere. Maybe make a scare cam Pay per view event...

If I recall correctly, Six Flags Had a few 13+ Haunted houses at one point in time. I remember me and my friends scheming to try and say we were both 14 when he was 13 and I was 11. This was way back in 01' ? Anyways we ended up not getting in. But I was scared crap-less anyways, And still enjoyed the event.

There are several 18+ Halloween events everywhere, and I think that busch catering to this crowd, even if it is just one or two attractions would not only bring them more business but would give the event the edge it needs. We arent trying to make the whole park 18+. A few attractions for adults would be nice though... I mean there is Forest of Fun and Land of the Dragons and If I decided I wanted to play around in those areas, I'd probably get booted along with several nasty looks from parents...

It's the same thing, somethings are for kids, some are for adults and some things just shouldnt mix. The park accommodating a couple adult attractions would not hurt the family image and would be perfectly fair.

They make it scary and anyone can go through, won't that not work well with some people?

As for your question, fine. It's howl-o-scream and the 30plus women should have fun.

See...you're talking about content issues. Land of Dragon has child-friendly content. The discussion here is not about upping the adult content. That has been made abundantly clear to me. What this is about is people being able to go through the house without having to have their experience ruined by a bunch of teenage miscreants.

All I'm saying is that the cut off for bad behavior in these houses has been revealed over the course of this discussion to be somewhere north of 25 years old. It has also been noted that all the bad behavior is pretty much perpetrated by men. So, there's literally no point, if we're trying to make a house that a ton of people can enjoy without hooliganism, in making it ONLY 18+. It simply won't solve the problem. The house needs to be either 30+ or Women only. THAT would fix the issue.

I don't understand what you're saying. I think they should have the event as they see fit, then parents and parkgoers can decide for themselves whether they will participate in the event.

As I said before, the 18plus limit isn't just for teenagers. Another problem with houses is that parents will bring small children in. When this happens, the child could cry or the parent will tell actors not to scare. While I understand your argument is probably the same (that being I'm a horrible person to want to do something actually scary), teens aren't the only issue.

I've also said there are douchebag adults, but getting 2/3 of the issue would be helpful.

Getting 6/7 would be even better...but it would exclude you...so you don't really like it.

Strange how that works.
