It's almost as if you should do research before you Unearth something.

(Since the scale backs really started when Unearthed was added, since they had both Insulation Station and Unearthed drinks. And then with the removal of Unearthed and the addition of the scare bar. I can easily see Nurses being removed entirely from the area)

I know its not a popular opinion but the Jack is Back dance party was always packed even on slow nights. Its was always high energy and had a wide audience from small kids to adults. It was something you could walk up right at showtime and enjoy without having to spend a hour waiting to get a good seat. I sure beer and food sales were helped in the area, I know I contributed to that often. I wish they could bring that back, without trying to update it.....it worked.

Personaly I have never thought near strippers pouring jello shots down bystanders mouth holes in a public forum appropriate for all ages. For that matter I find Fiends disrespectful and frankly unnessisarily puriant. Did I mention poorly executed? As has been said before, BGW HOS really needs to decide if it is:
  1. A family friendly event
  2. Adult entertainment
  3. A frat party
  4. A rave
  5. A horror show
  6. Legit scary
It can not do all 5 at the same time and certainly not all in the same area.

I don't think BGW considers HOS to be family friendly. They don't kick kids out but they are strongly discouraged to not be there

But they in no way actually do anything to enforce said advisory. In fact it ridiculous that we have to go digging to find examples of they saying that, "...It is expected..." That is about a good as saying to your 16 year old, "Your mother and I would expect that you not drink under age."

Not that I ever did, I would never have done such a thing. Not in my family, no sir, no drinking.
And let that be a lesson to all you kids out there. Until the moment you turn 21 you are in no way equipped to consume alcohol.

@Zimmy I didn't go digging. I was at the park about 8 years ago with the grandkids. My son told me we had to leave because at dark it was too much for the littles. And, I think they make a PA announcement about the transition. They don't care, they advised. If you want your 3year old to fill his pants with "scared to death poopie" so be it.

Anyway ....here's some first few years stuff from the papers....

When I go to a haunted house at a theme park, it's expected that I'll get a good scare. However, in reality I just end up with a plastic bat thrown in my face and a man going "ooOOoo it's a bat!"

#Memoriesof13:YourNumber’sUp

What I'm saying is, just because something is expected, if it's not enforced people aren't going to head the warnings. Humans are naturally stubborn, after all.

@GrandpaD - do you have microfiche at your house? Your newspaper finds are kick ass.
Thanks! No, actually it's all from a site called newspapers.com. I paid for a month for another reason, using it now for the site until my time runs out. It has Daily Press and a few other local. No Virginian Pilot or main Richmond paper, though.

I mean all of the mazes from last year are technically still up in the locations they were held. All of the locations that they used last year had the advantage that they could just leave the maze up all year.

is there any reason that they might re-work the mazes yet again this year? i know from a former cast member that cornered used to be a huge center for black mold due to sitting out all year, and i assume that is part of the reason why it was worked on during last years offseason. i also wouldn't be surprised if similar weather damage has occurred to lumberhack and circo. with them having remodeled frostbite as well, I'm wondering if they are planning to leave the attractions as they are after putting "so much" work into them this past season.

personally, i'd like to know how you guys feel about the mazes themselves and if they should be reverted to their old looks (cornered and frostbite for me personally) or if they should attempt another revamp to try and recapture more sinister energy and theming. also, what about the state of the current maze line-up as well? i agree with previous comments about the concentration of mazes in oktoberfest, and i personally believe that busch should attempt to have atleast one maze to compliment each scarezone in the park (e.g; festa's circus theme tying into circo).

I think I've said it before but from what I've been told the park will be moving at least one of the mazes away from Germany. They realized it was too congested.

The mazes are all still up. You can see Lumberhack and cornered from the train. They are currently still sitting there in the form they were during HOS. As far as the black mold I've never heard that one before. But my understanding is that it's cheaper to let them stand in place and repair them each year then tear them down and rebuild.
