I often just have causal in character conversation with the vampires in vampire point. The whole area would be significantly better if they would just give all the scarezones props to hide behind and use.

Ripper row, I feel is a shadow of it's former self. As cheaply made those facades were, theyve been missing and that just little bit made it a tiny bit more atmospheric. Granted I still remain on the point of, it prolly shouldn't have been that big, considering it became a pain in the ass to walk through. But it added something to the area.

Honestly though most of the scarezones are lacking. It's just props. They need an environment to interact with. Not just walk around and try to scare.

As far as Frankenstein in Germany, they had stitchen time years ago. It was not very good. But I do feel like they could expand upon it though. Villagers who are trying to defend themselves. Half changed villagers and abandoned projects. Though I feel like they've avoided the Frankenstein theme because of Fiends since it's the same concept. But since Fiends is old at this point, I'd like to see it either get a major face lift or for it to go and we get a Frankenstein themed scarezone.

LOL Okay, so I meant the vampire statues at the entrance and near the Willkommen Haus. The theming was better when they first started. Even the Open Casket employees were in character.

Open Casket was never apart of Vampire Point. Also, the servers at Open Casket have always been in full vampire costume, as they are a part of the culentainment staff.

Isn't Open Casket in Vampire Point though? Technically the scare zone always overflowed to Oktoberfest, not just Rhinefeld.

Not to split hairs, but under the original construct, Vampire Point was a Terror-Tory and Open CASKet was a separate bar. In 2013 the two areas had completely different vibes, in fact. Vampire Point was exclusively in Rhinefeld, and honestly never really worked. The Oktoberfest area around Open CASKet has more of a club feel.

Only some of the bars were integrated with a Terror-Tory. That said, they clearly were going for a vampire theme across the German hamlets.

I think the confusion stems from the erosion of the Terror-Tory concept. As you can see in @Zachary's article, they were conceived of as immersive and theatrical areas, vice straightforward scare zones. For a variety of reasons, they slowly changed from Scott's initial concept into whatever we have now.

To be honest, vampire point is the only place people try to scare me in. I do like their stratedgy of walking behind you and going in for the kill but yes I do see where you are coming from. Also, I wish more scare actors would go after me outside of the houses.

I know Scott gets a lot of shit on here but I think many of his concepts were great. He understood theming and the part felt a bit more complete when he was running HOS. Just my opinion and I know many others will disagree.

I don't think the goal of Nicole's post was to speak negatively towards Scott.

If anything, I interpreted it as her saying the initial concept Scott had was good, but the product has eroded away from what once was Scott's good vision.

I actually intentionally kept my opinions of both Scott and Terror-Tories out of it. I was merely attempting to explain the nature of the HOS construct.

For what it is worth, I am neither a fan of Scott nor the Terror-Tories, for many, complex reasons.

Sorry if that sounded defensive. I didn't take the comment as negative towards Scott, just stating my opinion as I do realize there are probably more people who were not a fan of his vs those who were. And to be clear, I don't think he was without fault. I just feel like he brought something fresh, whether it was good or bad and I feel like those were the last really strong years. I think the part has been struggling since.

All that said, the event could be terrible (2017 for example) and I would still love being there. Maybe it's more nostalgia and feels than anything else. I'm sure I'm not the only one. I will complain about all of it and want to go right back the next day.

Oh no you're absolutely right. They would always attempt with me, but I'm not scared by different people all wearing the same costume. Also with the lack of y'know... HIDING PLACES, AND WEARING RED JACKETS, they don't exactly have the best camoflauge, so we'd just have a small chat until we reached the end of their stalking ground. But the actors over there at least make the attempt.

If nothing else, the vampires we're always consistent at hos, between vampire point, open casket and bitten. They always tried their best.

I genuinely do not remember interacting with scare actors in any areas except vampire point and the occasional time I'm admiring Ripper Row. Yes, people are there, but it doesn't FEEL like it.

Most of the actors don't interact, they make the scare attempt and move on. The vampires stalked, and if they found an easy target they'd gang up on them. To be fair to Sideshow square the area is too small and gets far too crowded for them to do much at times, but the other scare zones don't have much of an excuse. Ripper row is prolly the second best when it come to interactions. But that may be nostalgia goggles from closing night the first year where the ladies spent an extra 30 minutes killing the ripper and getting revenge.

No you're right, I see a lot of actors standing around. But I mostly see them standing around in houses, the ones on the paths do a much better job of at least looking busy, and I see enough attempts to see that they are somewhat trying. It's the houses that nobody does anything in.
