Brought my friend tonight who has never been to a Howl O Scream before... SPOILER ALERT... he was not impressed! We got there right as it got dark; the decor and actors in the terrortories were okay and we would have complimented it if the mazes were high quality... and they were not. We spent most of our time going on coasters and drinking from the Brauhaus (They have a 6.7% IPA in there as a 20oz! It's great!). The mazes we did go on were Catacombs... NO LINE, walked right on. There were literally only 2-3 actors we encountered... absolutely no scares! Scarlet's Revenge was awful... so many rooms of emptiness and rooms with one actor who barley does anything. Awful maze... remember last year when they tried to market this like it was a revolutionary haunted house made with help from the producer of The Blair Witch Project? LOL! Anyway, we went on Bitten which was just very average because it seemed better staffed. My friend was not impressed; he viewed the only advantage of the haunted houses were to keep people off the rides!

Did you go to Lumberhack? That had no line tonight for the most part.

I went last Friday and brought 2 friends with the Bring a Friend passes.
They go each year with me, and my one friend was really looking forward to the pork shank. (as was I)

Have my BIGGEST Howl-O-Scream fears come true?  Is the pork shank GONE?

The park was DEAD Friday night.  We hit every wine tasting in the park and rode every coaster first row with virtually no wait. I finally rode Tempesto for the first time, as there was no wait. It was okay, especially after numerous wine tastings, but I can't imagine waiting in a long line for it.

WHERE IS THE PORK SHANK?

Hit both events over the weekend. Fri. and Sat. at KD, Sun. at BGW. Both were enjoyable in their own ways. I echo most of the thoughts others have already expressed about Sideshow Square (great actors, costumes, lacking in the theming department) and Circo Sinestro (great atmosphere, should only get better). I think the scare actors at KD won the weekend for enthusiasm, but as usual, I prefer the overall ambiance at BGW by far. The park just lends itself to this sort of even so much better than the open expanse of pavement that is most of KD.

Was anyone else slightly disappointed in the "Room Roulette" the public "voted" on? Perhaps we were just voting to name the room

I'm getting my costume together and I was wondering if anyone knew what the machine is called that the park uses to do the face painting? Either a brand name or just whatever the contraption itself is called in general?

I suppose so. If I'm being honest, a friend of mine is insisting we try and get one of these machines for all of our costume needs since we run into makeup issues and time constraints every year. I've googled "face paint machine" which has yielded sufficient options but I'm just wondering if there's a particularly reliable brand.

Well guys we have another legend.

And there is a definite Rad Bradbury vibe to the story.

Here's some general shots of HOS I took.  A couple I wanted to take again, like the screen hanging up in JHWR and the images projected on it, at night but forgot.  I also tried to get some in Festa of the scare actors but I couldn't get any good shots as it was dark and the actors were always moving too fast to get a sharp picture.  Will try again in a week or two.

Did I read correctly a while back in this thread that the vampire bar in front of Festhaus is gone? If so have the cranberry vodka drinks been relocated?

And yes I'm aware this makes me sound (yet again) like a complete lush.

The bar was still there on Sunday night (10-9-2016). They have a pretty good selection of beer. They were operating at a reduced staff, so there was a bit of a wait.

No, the bar is still there. As are the bars in San Marco and Aquitaine. I can't recall if there is still one in Banbury Cross.

You might want to check out the new No Escape bar, as well.

I tried the spiced cider/rum in san marco, the vampire martini in front of the festhaus, and the jack the ripper drink in front of the escape rooms. The spiced cider drink was my least favorite. I can't really explain why since I usually like cider and rum drinks when it is cold. The Jack the ripper drink tasted like a bahama mama to me. I thought that drink and the vampire martini were good.

My first HOS visit for the year is tomorrow! Looking forward to some burlap sack to the face yo! There is some pretty good Haunt competition up the road this year. I've been to that twice so far. Here's hoping for superb staffing and minimal stacking!
