I have no idea what's going on right now with Cornered. Most of the construction that would normally be visible from the train was blocked by a giant truck.

The buildings that are/were visible looked entirely different from last year. Why would they give that maze a complete redo, especially since it seemed so popular last year?

I actually thought it had some serious weaknesses last year, and would welcome targeted improvements.

Also, to speculate, maybe they need to modify some of the effects to avoid duplication with the new maze?

That thought did occur to me, but only in regards to the Claustrophobia room. Now, thinking about the circus theme; this could change a lot in the special effects field. Besides, most special effects are only in their respective houses because Oak Island tells the park to incorporate their product.

I'm SO into this escape room possibility. I've done them all around here (RVA). It would def have to be separately ticketed. Has anyone gone lately and seen work being done in that building in Rhinefield?

if the layout for Cornered is different, I feel like I know what they changed. if Circo Sinistro is supposed to be a carnival-fair type thing, do you think they would move the mirror section from Cornered to there? it would make sense for the theme...

The Wilkomennhaus shop is now closed and a temporary wall has been built between it and the Ice Cream place beside it.

The only change I saw was with the first half of the maze. The mirrors and corn at the end seemed to be the same.

There are some strange things going on with that maze. It seems like all of the new buildings are being "cheated out" (staging term) toward the train track. In other words, some building might be flipped from last year. I'm glad to hear that we still have hope for the mirrors coming back. Although Circo Sinistro might have a mirror maze, it's very different and highly effective in Cornered. I even thought the mirrors were effective when I first saw them in the daylight.
