How would it be a surprise maze? The Wilkomennhaus isn't big enough for a haunted maze, though a new Dinner show on the other hand isn't out of the question. But the words "Escape Room" are the real mystery here does anyone know what they could relate too?

Uhhhh....escape rooms are the new fab around town here. They have grown incredibly popular in a very short amount of time. I'm going to guess here, that this will be an up-charge. I will edit in a link to my local escape room after posting this.

He said new howl o scream attraction. Im super lost. Why is this not on the website yet.

I think Escape Rooms are really cool (we actually had an Escape Room business open up here in Williamsburg not too long ago) but I wonder how the logistics of that would work at a huge, popular event like this. Every one I've ever heard of is for a small group (4-8 people) and usually lasts about an hour, so it seems like an odd choice for HoS. My curiosity is piqued though!

The Experiment in Tampa was a vaguely similar concept to an escape room. I have always wanted an "Alone" or "Experiment" style house, but I am really interested to see how this one plays out.

Looks like no more Blood Banquet, which is kind of a shame because I like more dining options than just the standard cafeteria like most of the park.  I totally understand if it's not your thing, the show was less than great.

To each his own, I thought the show was fun. Most outdoor dinner theater is going to be exactly what that show was - ad lib, audience interactions, parlor tricks. Certainly not high art but harmless fun and a talented cast.

But I agree with you I'll especially miss that food option

Having done research on Escape rooms I am now excited about this, though like Nicole I do believe this will be a pay for reservation event like the previous dinner shows. If this does turn out to be an escape room we should have a contest on the Forum for those whom participant to see how fast you escaped from said room.

Last year I went to an escape room "of sorts" called The Vault of Souls. The difference is that the space was really large, because it was a real vault under a real abandoned bank. Between the fun of the full experience, and the price tag, I wonder if I will ever enjoy another escape room.

That being said, the some of the Skeleton Key rooms at KD, such as the witch caravan, are actually micro escape rooms. Busch Gardens will have to find a good in-between. If they followed any of Tampa's past role-models (if they are smart), they will use theatrical trick to make it look like a much bigger space via movable scenery/hallways.

Since BGW has been looking to do their own Alone type house for some time, I can't help but feel that this was a cheap cop-out. Haunt-style escape rooms were invented primarily to do a haunt on a budget ( around $5000 base-price for a place like BGW). They must deliver with the haunt/scare factor, or this will fail to impress their clientele.

As you say, "To each their own." I personally hated the show. I dislike audience participation. I chose to work backstage for a reason. Allegedly this particular show was supposed to have something to do with this forum. I personally do not buy that piece of lore myself. Finally as to "food choices," I never thought the food was worth the price of admission. The meat was bland and often over cooked, and don't get me started on the way over cooked pasta.

But still no one forced me to go... (except in some cases they did... hurmph)

I am sorry for those who enjoyed it, I hope they do not choose to damage the clock again.

I found it interesting that while looking at Howl-O-Scream permits from this year and last year, Cornered has an estimated value of $25,000 (same as last year). Whereas all other returning mazes are estimated at $1,000, aside from Unearthed ($3,200, I believe).
