It looks like we finally have a face to the mysterious Mr. Karver. This was from SeaWorld San Antonio. I think it was a very smart decision to make him look generic and somewhat cartoonish. This should break one of their biggest barriers: Translating the icon to look convincing on the performer portraying him or her. It's one of the reasons as to why Tampa never really saw the Trickster, and why we got a cheap looking Lady of the Gardens (after not having one at all).

That's why Scarlett had about three models in promotional material, so anyone resembling one of three models would appear more authentic. One of my former theatre colleagues was one of Scarlett's minions that sold drinks, and the funny thing is that I was actually going to call her and say "Hey, you should dress as Scarlett." I guest casting saw the same thing.

Anyway, that's just a little bit of insight on what it takes to design and implement a Howl-O-Scream icon.

He looks like a dejected Gepetto! That makes sense considering the theme. :)

I like his look, but he doesn't scream scary to me. I guess his creations are meant to be the scary part?

I agree- in fact, his creations (are they puppets or dolls?) don't seem scary to me either. I guess that's not a bad thing, a lot of past mascots haven't been especially scary but for some reason I can't quite put my finger on this just seems like an odd choice to me. It's certainly creative though, so points for that!

Getting some video, but in the meantime there's some sort of construction happening in FHP. This looks like (from what I can tell) some sort of add on to the Bitten building and what looks like a gate to Lumberhacked.

Actually, as has been stated several times, just about all work in Festhaus Park is in relation to InvadR. Having taken a look from Mach Tower, they are actually beginning construction of supports for the ride. They do so vertically, so the posts you see standing up will be connected with metal beams and then put in a pile with the rest of the supports that have already been completed.

UPDATE FROM SAN ANTONIO:
The San Antonio Howl-O-Scream website has a new house listed.
It is called Karver's Kradle, and it's story ties in with Evil Encore.

Mr. Karver was famous for his handcrafted puppets, marionettes, and ventriloquist dolls that were featured in his “House of Dolls.” The theatre presented shows like “Mr. Karver Presents,” warm-heart silent movie series. But at the peak of his popularity, the authorities came to question Mr. Karver about his dolls being at the scene of several gruesome disturbances. Mr. Karver locked himself and his secrets away in his House of Dolls Theatre, withdrawing from public life. However, stories have been whispered about Mr. Karver and his dolls…could they be involved in mysterious disappearances?

The flicker of lights and the red carpet are rolled out just for you. The dolls are back with no strings attached. Can you survive this evil encore?

Just an interesting discovery.

Not only is SWTX getting a house based on the theme, but also a scare zone. Double interesting.

NEW - SHADOW STREET
The demon dolls have found a new place to wreak havoc, stalking the pathway in front of Mr. Karver’s Kraddle. Frightful surprises await those who dare to take a closer look.

Can't say I'm a fan of this type of scare but it could be interesting to see how they handle it. Hopefully we won't with a puppet blowing in the wind, yes that means you Scarlet.

My apologies, I just retuned from hibernation for Haunt season.

Yawn.... me too! I'm trying to catch up here. but looking on bgw's website it doesn't seem like there is anything tangible from the dolls. Is there supposed to be a house, show, or terrortory related to the creepy dolls?

BGW updated there Snapchat story last night. First of the three snaps was footage from the throne room of Bitten with text saying "Behind the Scenes of Bitten" over the video. Next was a photo that said "Sneak peek during filming with a regular woman sitting in front of the camera. The next snap was the most interesting as it was the woman talking and saying "Legends of Howl-O-Scream" and then the video ends.

Just to alert you the next part is all speculation. Now I've been visiting HOS since 2003. There has been several icons including Jack, Lady of the Gardens, the blue things (I try to forget those), and last year Scarlett. This year also introduces all of the dolls from Mr. Karver's workshop. At this point there's quite a story behind HOS in Williamsburg and 2016 will be the 18th year.

This is the part where I go way off topic. Now I doubt it but with all this history could we be seeing something in which they return in some fashion? I know HHN in Orlando has quite a few icons (Jack, Caretaker, Etc) and they'll bring them back every couple years or do special events and experiences with them. I wouldn't expect anything to happen this year as my theory is based on a video clip less than ten seconds.

Anyway should be fun to see what happens from here. Less than 29 days!

ERMAGHERD.....29 days until opening night and when I will visit HoS with my haunt bro. Little irked that they close at 10pm on the 23rd but should be able to get all the mazes/shows in. Hope the Bier Room is well stocked for my visit.
