If you have no attendance numbers, do not throw that excuse out there as a fact. I never said sex was not in the event. I said it is wrong to make up things like the cage with the cursed creature in it. That isn't sex. The wendgio in the cage in Wendigo Woods is not sex. Ripper Row, while it has prostitutes, they aren't half naked, they are much more decently dressed and they don't pose in sexual positions.

Yes there is sex in the event. Fiends is the most obvious with the naughty nurses and the Freakenstein Creation. There are sexual innuendoes in the shows, not all of them blatant and obvious. The Demon DJ does make provocative gestures. But these things do not make up the entire event. It is rather absurd to nickname it Howl-O-Sex when less than half of the listed attractions contain things of a sexual nature.

The park has yet to hit capacity for HOS on any given night (this year). Considering when I went 2 years ago on opening night, and the park hit capacity as I got there at 5, i'd say that's mildly telling of where attendance is going.

I'd even go as far as saying there will be a drop in attendance shown at the next earnings call. I would give a number for BGW, but since they never break attendance down per park, there wont be any hard numbers.

Clearly the park thinks spending boatloads of money on useless things that create no draw to the park, and drive regulars absolutely nuts, like London Rocks, or Porno Nights(OMG, I said porno, PR's going to have to report the post now), will bring in people. However, they're always proved wrong by dropping attendance almost every year. Then when people complain about events being lackluster because the Entertainment department thinks they own the Treasury, they do nothing, and continue to loose visitors.

Just gonna pop in for a moment and ask why we're getting into an arguement about overly sexual events when the person who started this arguement posted a strangely sexual video when he/she/they garnered several thanks over an extended period of time. I'm just confused over where this credibility came from...

I understand if this garners warning points, my clean record is getting boring.

All this aside, Halloween had become a sexualized holiday over the past two or three decades. I expect it. Now if Santa comes out in fishnets I get confused.

And stop it Jonquil I'm blushing!

I dunno about what HOS everybody else attended, but last Friday and Saturday were mobbed. Sure opening weekend was a bust because of the rain and Sunday was dead, but the crowds for Sunday don't start rolling in until mid-late October. Overall, I wouldn't say there was any drop in attendance that you don't really see on a September weekend.

Opening Saturday last year was bad because it was sunny and 75 all day, not to mention it was Bring a Friend weekend so everyone was at the park. As for opening night, I've attended opening HOS for the past four years now and while its busy, I don't think the park remotely gets CLOSE to capacity let alone hits it. The worst lines I've ever seen for opening HOS were for Root of All Evil when that first opened up (hour wait), but all the other mazes didn't have lines at all that night.

I will only address the attendance drop, as the other discussions are getting out of hand.

Lets be honest, shows dont pull people like a ride or new maze would. Last we hit capacity due to a new maze and all new terror-tories.In a sense, it was a brand new event. This year, they have a new shop,a new show, and a new terror-tory, but everything is the same, more or less... there wont be that pull of a nearly new event like last year had, because it is not enough new stuff.Next year we will see a rise in park numbers, that will fall before the summer season is up, due to the new ride.Rides and a lot of new things pull people more than a few new things and no new rides.

I always saw the modified names as satire. Also, the add-on events have never bothered me and I see them for what they are: an attempt to drive attendance to an almost 40 year old park. I've been to the park more than 100 times -- I'm okay with finding something new. Carl has a tough job at a time when the park has more competition from other forms of entertainment and expensive labor in a labor-intensive industry. ...And thank you HOS and CT for expanding the season I can enjoy my preferred entertainment: theme parks. Bring on the naughty nurses!

I went on opening night and got there at 7, saw the 730 Monster Stomp show and did 5 of 6 haunted houses before close. I then went on Sunday opening weekend and the Hubby and I did Blood Banquet, Fiends, Monster Stomp and 2 haunted houses.

I do agree last year in the sense of path scares, it was all brand new. I'm very sure that helped to draw more people to the park. Just keep in mind Howl-o-Scream just started. It has only been two weekends, six days total. I'd say it hasn't been long enough to compare attendance guesses just yet.

As netdvn said, opening weekend is not normally a busy weekend. I can't remember when the park ever hit capacity opening weekend. People are too nervous about going early because things might not be fully ready yet. This year opening weekend had slightly poor weather that drove whatever crowds were going to come to the park away. Sunday was nice, but really it was a sunday in September and those typically are the slowest days.

This past weekend was insanely busy. Crowds kept pouring in all weekend. Sunday was not as busy, but it still had a decent crowd. I also wanted to mention that the park just added over 500 parking spaces. Which means they are less likely to hit capacity as often as previous years. My guess is, whatever cars they would have turned away got parked. It was busy.

Good news, everybody! Now you can bring the magic of Demon Street to your own home for just $20.00! Alcohol not included.

I'm surprised at whoever said this past Friday was slow- I was there and it was the busiest I've ever seen it in September (I never go on Saturdays, FYI)! I mean, it definitely wasn't October-level crowds, but I would say they didn't have anything to complain about attendance-wise.

Pass members can bring a friend for free on Friday in September, I'm not all surprised by it being busy. The park probably barely made any money that day anyway.
