To be honest, I think Kings Dominion is somewhat oblivious to what BGW does or does not do for Halloween. They have a strong event for the demographic they serve. Especially, over the last couple of years. They have raised the standards a notch or two each season and are happy for the returns they have been getting.
Sure, improvements are an ongoing process and they are going in the right path. It's just a raw fact that Cedar Fair corporate does not give the park wheel barrels full of cash to blow on over-the-top events, so the changes come at a snails pace; but, come never the less.
I have heard a few people on "neutral" enthusiasts sites, who have visited both BGW and KD for Halloween, state that they preferred Kings Dominion's event over BGW; course, those comments have come in just over the last 2 years or so.
