A thought just popped up into my head.

They are doing the roaming hordes this year, instead of scare zones. So it's safe to say they are going to be walking around in a giant circle all night.

Would this mean that Festa Italia, is probably one of the safest places in the park, next to England? (Not taking into account the mazes.) Festa is a dead end, there would be no point in heading that way only to turn around and head out the way they came in.

And to be perfectly honest, I'm not sold on the idea of the hordes. If what I remember you guys said correctly, there will be two groups of 15-25 people? I don't see this idea working just because of crowd levels.

False.

Just because it is a dead end for guests does not mean it is for employees. All the horde has to do is take the service road by Roman Rapids and come back on the path somewhere down the road. That service road could even take them all the way to the back of Pompeii which would be awesome cause then you'd never have an idea where they would be.
But it still seems odd that they would walk in, and then take the service route back out. As it makes a bit of a weird loop. (Although I'm not currently looking at an aerial view of the map, so correct me if I'm wrong.)

Party Rocker - I dunno, maybe it's because it hasn't started yet, which is why I'm not sold on the idea. Even with the extra scares besides the hordes, it's just doesn't sound... exciting? It just sounds more like a hazard to me. (Though I'm scared of everything in that park at night during HoS, so it's kind a moot point. Because even though it doesn't sound great, I'll still get scared beyond all reason.)

Again thinking about the crowds on Saturdays, which nobody needs to be reminded that they are in fact insane, having 50 some-odd people ending in England for pictures/meet-and-greets, and all that just sounds like a ton more congestion than needed. Because unless they are making queues, people are just going to get into a massive pile and block things.

We'll have to see though. Because it does sound good in theory, the execution however can be entirely different...

So does anybody want to hear some fun facts about the hordes?

There will be two of them, with 20 - 35 scare actors. They will start in Germany one group will go into New France and around the park that way, another will go towards Oktoberfest and around that way. Each horde will be on schedule to reach England at closing time. At closing time both hordes will be in England for you to take pictures with, meet and greet, and what not. Which will mean about 50 scare actors just standing there in England.

ANYONE ELSE THINK THAT ADDING ANYONE TO ENGLAND AT CLOSE IS BAD?! Like, its already chaos at close. Who needs more?!

They do it every night in the summer with the Illuminights performers.

I never saw any. maybe they only put a few up there? But 50+ Scare actors, causing people to want to run, or walk fast/slow. Chaos is bad...

Are you talking about actors in the houses? or will there be other scarezone type actors?

Glad you asked, there are more than just scare actors in the hordes and houses. Scott really wants you to get scared.

I really wish they would bring back the guys who dressed in the ghillie suits and you just thought it was a bush but NO! Oh man those guys got me sooooo many times. I LOVED it. :D:D

Please bookmark my post and remember it when you're all on here complaining about them on Monday :p

BTW, I'm going to say it's a safe bet that you're going to see/hear them coming a mile away, particularly with commotion coming from the screaming/overracting teenage crowd. Seems way more annoying than scary.

Future me: "Gee, I just want to get across the bridge to see the 6:30 show if Dig It Up, and I get to wade through 25 scare actors a 50 screaming, cursing, giggling, guests bumping into me. FUN!"

RE: Howl-O-Scream 2012 Rumors

Sorry if this has been answered before but I am trying to plan our Friday trip. We should be getting to the park about 5:00. Are any of the houses open then or do they all open at 6:00? Also is there a place to find showtime listings yet? I am not seeing it on the Howl O Scream website yet. Thanks! Can't wait for Friday! Hope it's not as busy as it gets later in the season when the park closes to capacity!!!

RE: Howl-O-Scream 2012 Rumors

I do see everyone's concerns on capacity and crowding, however I am waiting to judge these hordes the day I see them. I am sure Entertainment has a plan to handle congestion. And speaking of congestion,

The main goal for Howl-o-Scream this year was reducing congestion. Some things they did to try to reduce congestion was open Root of All Evil to get 3,000 people off the pathways. However there is still much more they did. They expanded to an extra weekend to give guests more options on when to come, increasing days open meant spreading out guests. They also created Dig It Up to reduce congestion. The theater used to sit empty, with few seats used. Dig It Up is expected to get 800 or so guests off the paths. Getting rid of Jack is Back was a no brainer. Old not used icon giving you major congestion is just beging to go.
Speaking of shows, you can expect Night Beats to more like a Halloween version of American Jukebox. It features many songs from different times and eras. It is very much a song and dance type of show, where Dig It Up will be mostly instrumental.
For all those worried about Monster Stomp, don't worry, it will be back in about two years; and here is the twist! It will not return to Abbeystone.

That all . . . for now ;) Hope you guys are getting excited for Howl-o-Scream because I am!

EDIT: I am also shocked that we have always thought hordes were a good thing. Now people are saying their bad? Can you say mixed messages?
