Well since I wasnt able to go to the event on Saturday, I just watched the video Zachary posted for us and found something interesting.

Hey guys! I finally signed up for this forum so I can join in on the fun. I have really enjoyed reading this thread and seeing all the "rumors" for Howl-O-Scream this year.

Now where can I see this video that was posted? :D

EDIT: I just found it! We can't wait til Howl-O-Scream this upcoming weekend.

Seriously not bating here, legitimate question:

Do you think this "different demographic" comment shows that the park sees its target audience as being families, even during HoS?

Yes and No. I think they are still having this issue of sending mixed messages about what the event really is. It's obvious they are gradually moving towards what Tampa has and for good reason.

Or maybe it has to do with the VA audience being primarily locals who are going to work the next day (for military members, especially, the fact that the next day might be Sunday doesn't mean it isn't a work day)?
Right, instead they will stay out at the Beach Front bar hopping till 2am. The military is only a fraction of the locals ;)

I'm not saying they should stay open till 2am, that wouldnt work here. But 12am on Saturday nights would work just fine and allow people to do everything HOS has to offer.

20,000 people? In October?

No, he stated that the only people that go to BGW are families apparently. Along with everyone having to work Sundays. It was just news to me.

RE: Howl-O-Scream 2012 Rumors

Park is sending very mixed signals as David stated. They want to appeal to both but simply cannot. The demographic is here to no end. It is the parks fault and nothing more with marketing.

Granby picks up in the fall bigtime.

^Because the employees defiantly want to be leaving at 1 am

I know a few who employees who had to stay until 2AM when the park closed at 11PM. It really is unfortunate for them.

But honestly, the park is stuck in this growing pain phase where they are growing into a more mature dark event, but they are still being KIDsiderate. Give it a few more years and they should grow out of the KIDsiderate era.

RE: Howl-O-Scream 2012 Rumors

A huge logistic problem the park also faces by staying open later is staffing. The most a person can work in a single day is 16 hours and then can not work for 8 hours. A lot of people who work for the park work both daytime operations as well as HOS at night. Adding the extra hours would mean these people either can't fulfill their jobs in the morning or if there is enough time, they are beyond drained by the hours and how long it really takes for people to get home after working HOS.

It's interesting, the last two photos kind of point in the direction that Da Vinci's Garden of Inventions is the domain of the Lady and her plants. I mean it has nothing to do with Root of all Evil, but she's obviously there. Maybe Da Vinci's has a seperate theme than San Marco?

RE: Howl-O-Scream 2012 Rumors

Thanks Party Rocker for the great pictures! :D

I think it's great that they added more Lady of the Garden figures around the park instead of just the entrance like last year. Edit: And the one found in San Marco. I forgot she was there I was still remembering the witches they had back there. :D

Ireland looks great with the monsters all through it. And the sign for Fiends just puts a big smile on my face.

You were right about that one black hooded figure standing in with the tombstones....totally creepy.

Also on another note I hope this means that we will have an actual Lady of the Gardens in Root of all Evil. It would be awesome to have her in there somewhere (real person) but even if we get a statue that's fine too. Good job Busch Gardens it looks great this year. :p

RE: Howl-O-Scream 2012 Rumors

Thanks Owls R A Hoot, I actually didn't think they were that great just average but I appreciate that. Also, welcome to the forums!

Jackelope, DaVinci's Gardens was themed to the Lady of the Gardens last year, and it will be repeat this year. Why they didn't just put Root of All Evil in Italy is probably because they have limited space in that area. Thus, putting it in Germany was better.

I hope they get a lot of work done this week. I am interested to see some dinos in San Marco.

RE: Howl-O-Scream 2012 Rumors

I took what I think will be my last slide down the Escape from Pompeii yesterday (until next season that is). Have they adjusted the water guns at the end of the ride? I was sitting in the front row and got nailed in the head by three of them. That has never happened before.

That being said, I was getting excited by what I saw around the park in preparation for next weekend. Bring on the clowns!! And yes, I took a picture of the lone hooded figure in that graveyard that "Owls R A Hoot" mentioned. I kept staring thinking it was going to move. Very creepy.

Edit: Sorry Party Rocker, Owls... was referencing your picture. Credit where due. I may post the one I have later. Still very creepy.

So, in a video description on their YouTube channel (The Howl-O-Scream video posted today; By the way, it's the same video as last year.) I think I see a typo?..

The guns do go off by themselves every so often if I remember correctly. I think you may have gotten extremely unlucky.
