Just found out I'll be able to go opening night :D Gonna do Friday and Sunday. Anyone else going?

On show news: I'm excited to see what's in store for Night Beats and Fiends. Bringing in a Broadway producer makes me VERY happy.

I need to be there on Friday and I hope to be there on Sunday. We'll see how things turn out.

Also, first post has been updated to reflect the current state of the hamlet themes. To be honest, I don't know what's up with Rhinefield's vampires. It seems as though Rhinefield and Oktoberfest will share the same theming. Quite odd- especially with Root of All Evil being the obvious headliner this year. Dedicating a full hamlet to The Lady of the Gardens made sense. Guess something must have changed.

I'm so glad I have to work Saturday because of the crowds. Do you think they will be bad on Friday and Sunday?

Okay folks, lets not get too excited yet - in the realm of theater, the producer is generally the person who funds the project - they don't act, write, direct or design. Typically, they're no more than a wallet who acts as an intermediary when creative conflicts occur.

That having been said, I have no idea what capacity they'd be serving when Busch is footing the bill. This particular person may have some experience in the creative end, but one would think the park would be boasting about that if it were the case.

Thank you - I was going by the info given here as I was unable to get the video to play for more than a few minutes.

I will be there Friday as well, and in years past opening Friday the crowds were low. But this year pass members can bring a guest for free, so I really have no clue, I sure hope not ;)

They've been bringing in a broadway lighting designer since illuminights had its first year......

Yeah, Ken Billington is not exactly new. He did the Irish shows before IllumiNights too.

Well since I wasnt able to go to the event on Saturday, I just watched the video Zachary posted for us and found something interesting. Someone asked a great question during the Q/A regarding HOS hours. Tampa is open much later than BGW is, and the original reason we thought this was, was because of James City County regulations with a curfew of Midnight. Now, Carl stated it was due to different demographics between the parks, which is fair to say. But I dont see how they are that much different that causes the park to close 4 hours earlier than Tampa does.

We all know the park hits capacity rather early on Saturdays, and children are encouraged to leave at 5.... As well all know that isn't really the case though, as people dont listen. Point being though, if the parks are technically serving very similar demographics at night, why can't BGW stay open till atleast 11, and 12 on Saturday nights? Thoughts?

The park does close at 11 on Saturdays in October, but I really wish the park could stay open to 12 on Saturdays. I'm going on Saturday, and it may be the only time i can go, and I doubt I will get all the houses done. Oh well, I guess I'll skip Bitten and Catacombs.

Because it is such an issue at several other parks that close even later than 12.

Seriously not bating here, legitimate question:

Do you think this "different demographic" comment shows that the park sees its target audience as being families, even during HoS? Not necessarily that they want kids in the park at night, but that they see their adult audience as mostly people with kids at home or something to that effect, vs. a young-adult audience in Florida?

Or maybe it has to do with the VA audience being primarily locals who are going to work the next day (for military members, especially, the fact that the next day might be Sunday doesn't mean it isn't a work day)? There are bound to be more true tourists in Tampa, one would think.

It's an interesting comment, in any case. It may shed some serious light on the park's HoS decision making process, especially for those who tend to criticize them a lot this time of year.
